OverviewDay Shift, Monday - Friday (4 x 10hr shifts)
This role is a technician position in the device clinic of the Cardiovascular Medicine (Cardiology) ambulatory clinic. It is responsible for ensuring that patients with implanted cardiac devices are receiving appropriate monitoring and follow up, including but not limited to scheduling remote transmissions, trouble-shooting connectivity issues, providing patient education about remote monitoring and billing, following up on missed transmissions, and responding to patients’ questions. The position is also responsible for assisting device RNs and vendor representatives with direct patient care in the ambulatory clinic, and for participating in process improvement projects. Qualified candidates will demonstrate a willingness to work collaboratively with a tightly functioning team of providers, RNs, techs, and schedulers.
This is a full-time, 40-hour per week, day-shift position.
Responsibilities- Registers patients with newly implanted cardiac devices in the EHR and device vendor website.
- Provides patients with monitoring equipment and education about how to set up and utilize the equipment to send information to the clinic.
- Schedules remote transmissions from devices to the clinic.
- Receives the remote transmissions, prepares reports for providers, coordinates with device RNs, and ensures scheduling of the appropriate follow up (in clinic visit or remote transmission).
- Trouble-shoots causes of missed transmissions, working with patients and vendors as appropriate.
- Assists RNs and vendors in clinic appointments as appropriate.
- Ensures that providers’ recommendations for follow up appointments or transmissions are accomplished.
- Performs trans-telephonic monitoring testing and follows up as appropriate.
- Maintains relationships with other local providers, ensuring successful patient transfers as appropriate.
- Completes documentation for billing of services provided.
- Participates in orientation and training for new techs, schedulers, and RNs in cardiac electrophysiology.
- Maintains inventory of device monitors, accessories, and patient education materials for all devices.
- Orders supplies for device interrogators and maintains appropriate inventory.
- Participates in process redesign and problem-solving. Implements and maintains process improvement strategies as appropriate.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications- One year of technical experience as an ECG technician or cardio technician, or the equivalent, is required.
- College-level study of chemistry, anatomy, and physiology is helpful.
