To prospective teammates,
I am the medical director for Sound’s hospitalist practice at Warren Memorial Hospital in Front Royal, Virginia. I have proudly been a part of the Sound team for four years and welcome interest from physicians and advanced practice providers (APPs) coming out of training or desiring a career change. I’d like to share more about it, specifically about our people, practice, and purpose, as you consider your next steps:
People
- We are a closely knit, established team of four physicians and two advanced practice providers (APPs), supported by a clinical performance nurse. Our days are filled with collaboration and teamwork, including dedicated providers, nurses, case managers, PT/OT, nutrition, and more, creating an exceptional environment at Warren every day.
- Our providers participate in committees such as acute chest pain, working closely with the cath lab staff and cardiologists, code blue committee, sepsis, and ED/medicine throughout committee where the medical team meets with the ER team and ancillary staff to work through processes to improve efficiency and patient safety measures.
Practice
- We welcome the challenge of complex cases, working in a 24-bed medical/surgical floor and 12-bed critical care step down, with teleICU for support. As the leader team, we are responsible for rapid responses and code blue, but no procedure is required. Our strong nursing team and daytime IR support ensure effective care.
- For those who like to teach, we work with family medicine residents during the day for support and at nighttime for admissions as their attending.
- High level of communication for everyday processes and monthly team meetings to review policy/procedures, education, and program affairs.
- With a preference for family and outdoor time, a flexible schedule allows us to cover for each other when needed.
- Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life and AD&D insurance, long- and short-term disability, 401k with match, paid medical malpractice and tail coverage, and annual CME allowance.
Purpose
- We put patients first. Always.
- Growth and development are key features of Sound’s practices, where teammates can expand their careers here locally and within the broader medical group.
- We’re a community-minded team and encourage our team members who want to contribute in and out of the hospital to help make our local community thrive.
