Duties
NOTE: This multi-discipline recruitment will result in hiring one of the following disciplines: Social Worker; Psychologist; Psychiatrist; Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
- Maintain overall responsibility for the BHIP teams and the delivery of outpatient general mental care.
- Report directly to the Chief of MHS.
- Supervise staff members on BHIP.
- Educate and assist teams in the implementation of various initiatives that impact BHIP.
- Work with Ambulatory Care Business Operations (ACBO) Leadership to ensure consults are scheduled and encounters are closed.
- Receive or pull daily information about open encounters on the team and share with BHIP Team Leads.
- Gather data weekly and disseminate to BHIP Team Leads in weekly Leads Meeting.
- Pull bimonthly VVC #s for all BHIP Staff and share with staff as well as MH leadership.
- Pull every 3-6 months encounters, unique, and productivity for all staff in BHIP and share data with staff and MH leadership.
- Supervise personnel who build the clinics for the teams.
- Review PCMM for accuracy and any changes that need to be made by the Program Specialist.
- Conduct, at least several times a year, a drill down into clinics for BHIP Teams to ensure accuracy.
- Receive information from leadership daily about call outs for the team and work with team to help patients be seen or rescheduled.
- Manage interpersonal dynamics as they arise.

Qualifications
Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.
- Physician Assistant Basic Requirements
- Master's degree in any discipline or a bachelor's degree in any discipline with one year of experience as a Physician Assistant.
- Successfully passed the PA National Certifying Exam (PANCE).
- Currently hold, or will hold, a full and unrestricted license to practice in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia.
- United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
Grade Determinations
The following criteria must be met in determining the grade assignment of candidates:
- Physician Assistant-I (PA-I)
- (a) Experience and Education. None beyond the basic requirements.
- (b) Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities. The following list of knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA) present the minimum skill set expected of an Entry Level PA.
- Physician Assistant-II (PA-II)
- (a) Experience and Education. The PA at this grade is at the intermediate grade level.
- (b) Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs). PAs at this level are not required to meet each individual KSA listed below to qualify.
- Physician Assistant-III (PA-III)
- (a) Experience and Education. PAs at the PA-III grade are at the full performance level.
- (b) Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities. PAs at this level are not required to meet each individual KSA listed below to qualify.
