About the Role:
The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time Chief, Commander Action Group Specialist, NH-0301-04 to work at the Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC), Air Force Test Center (AFTC), Headquarters AFTC Commanders Action Group (AFTC/CCX) at Edwards Air Force Base.
In this position you will serve as the Chief of the Commander's Action Group (CAG), reporting to the Air Force Test Center (AFTC) Director of Staff and providing direct support to the Commander (0-8), Executive Director (SES), Vice Commander (0-6), Chief Technologists (SL), and Director of Staff (NH-04) by ensuring necessary decision information is available for senior leadership consideration as it relates to all AFTC policies, issues and requirements, by directing and prioritizing CAG workload, managing the center's workflow activity, preparing materials for senior leader use across the full spectrum of communication formats and methods, and by supporting AFTC Crisis Action Team and business operations.

Typical 2024 salary range: $142,094 - $191,000 per year (includes locality)
Telework Information: Up to 40% telework possible (must reside in local area)
Travel Requirements: Up to 25% travel possible
Direct Hire Authority: NO 6-MONTH WAIT! Recently retired and/or retiring from MILITARY service ARE eligible for immediate appointment for AFTC positions. The 180-day waiting period has been waived for AFTC to hire recently retired and/or retiring service members.
Desired Skills:
- Prefer 2 years of experience managing and working most aspects of tasks (creating, coordinating, tracking and completing) or working in a task management system
- Prefer 2 years of experience planning and executing special events/programs (Distinguished Visitors, training workshops, seminars/conferences, etc.)
- Prefer 2 years of experience creating, organizing, analyzing, communicating and adjusting guidance/business rules/procedures.
Major Duties:
- Plans, organizes and oversees the activities of the AFTC Commander's Action Group (CAG) and the Business Operations of the Command Section.
- Ensure business and management operations comply with legal and regulatory guidance and meets customer needs.
- Establishes metric and analysis systems for subordinate units to assess efficiency, effectiveness and compliance with regulatory procedures.
- Conducts research and develops content theme based on guidance sought from and provided by the presenting senior leader.
- Serve as the lead action officer for special projects and initiatives ad hoc or as assigned by AFTC Commander or other command section senior leaders.
- Maintains an operating knowledge of the information technology tools supporting AFTC's Crisis Action Team.
- Analyzes HQ AFMC actions for applicability to AFTC and its subordinate organizations.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship
- Obtain & maintain Security clearance
- Knowledge of a wide range of management concepts, principles, operations, laws, regulations, programs, and practices.
- Extensive knowledge of the mission, roles, functions, organizational structure, management, and operation of large organizations to provide high level staff guidance and participate in the development of goals, objectives, and policies.
- Knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices of a commander's action group in an intermediate headquarters level organization dealing with developmental test and evaluation; and written and oral communication principles, methods, and techniques to conduct and coordinate intercommunication.
- Skill in gathering, evaluating, and interpreting data to identify potential problems, arrive at valid conclusions, and offer meaningful recommendations and/or resolutions.
- Knowledge of written and oral communication principles, methods, and techniques to conduct and coordinate commander's action group activities to include producing written and visual information for and making oral presentations to a variety of audiences with different levels of understanding about developmental test and evaluation and the AFTC enterprise.
