Locum Sub Specialist in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery
Alberta Health Services in partnership with the University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry is inviting applicants for a LOCUM clinical sub-specialist position in Urogynecology to cover for a parental leave.
The successful candidate will complement the group of six Urogynecologists and our multi-disciplinary team at the Lois Hole Hospital for Women on the Royal Alexandra Hospital campus.
The Lois Hole Hospital for Women is dedicated to strengthening women’s health services, enhancing teaching, innovation and research. It is responsible for tertiary level women’s health care services with a current medical staff of 18 Obstetricians/Gynecologists and 17 sub-specialists who perform more than 6,000 deliveries and 5,000 gynecologic surgeries per year. Working at the Lois Hole Hospital for Women the successful candidate will deliver ambulatory care, inpatient care and perform urogynecology surgeries.
The candidate would be expected to be an innovative educator that would be very involved with postgraduate and undergraduate medical education and have an active interest and demonstrated skills in clinical or basic research and education. Our preference would go to a candidate that would demonstrate an interest in areas including gender health, indigenous health, global health as well as vulnerable populations.
The Royal Alexandra Hospital is also home to the clinical teaching program for the academic Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, University of Alberta. The Urogynecology Division provides clinical education for multiple learners including a Urogynecology sub-specialty trainee, postgraduate trainees in Obstetrics and Gynecology, in accordance with specialty specific RCPSC standards, and medical students.
The term of the locum is from April 1, 2024 – June 1, 2025 or a portion thereof.
The successful applicant will have, or be eligible for, certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology with the Royal College of Physicians of Canada and be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta. Completion of a clinical fellowship in Urogynecology and Pelvic Floor Reconstruction is required. The successful candidate will be expected to apply for a clinical academic appointment with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
