Special Procedures Technologists (IR Tech or PICC RN) at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist excel in guiding diagnostic and therapeutic minimally invasive procedures, using cutting edge radiographic and imaging equipment. While adhering to age-appropriate techniques and practicing in line with accepted standards of care, our IR Team demonstrates expertise in minimizing radiation and laser exposure to ensure the safety of patients and fellow healthcare team members.
Position Highlights:
- Shift Schedule: Full-Time, 5 8-Hour Shifts + rotating weekends
- Sign-On Bonus: This position is eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to $15,000, provided the candidate meets the eligibility requirements.
- Relocation Assistance: Enjoy up to $3,000 in relocation expenses, provided the candidate meets the eligibility requirements. Paid within the first 30 days of employment.

What You’ll Need:
- Must meet 1 of the following training requirements:
- Associate’s Degree from an approved school of Radiologic or Cardiovascular Interventional Technology or an ARRT/RCIS graduate from a Cardiovascular Interventional Training Program
- 2 years of work experience in IR or similar modality
- Registered & Certified by ARRT or RCIS Required
- Advanced Certification (ARRT – CV, CI, or VI) Preferred - Required within 1 year of hire date
- Valid CPR Certification – BCLS Required, ACLS Preferred
- Strong communication skills – oral, written, and listening, able to provide support to both employees and physicians as required
- Effective time management skills, and able to prioritize responsibilities and work independently
- Ability to thrive in high-stress, critical patient care settings

- Emergency Preparedness & Equipment Maintenance: Ensures emergency equipment readiness and promptly responds to potential crises; Conducts routine equipment checks to minimize downtime – reports any malfunctions as necessary.
- Proficient Procedure Execution: Performs procedures, tests, and exams with a comprehensive understanding of responsibilities; Offers valuable education and consultation while maintaining credentials through CEs and required competencies.
- Quality Patient Care: Prioritizes patient needs and service excellence through thorough evaluation of patient data; Coordinates patient care professionally, maintaining accurate records and files; Delivers age and developmentally appropriate care based on standards of care.
- Emergency Coverage: Provides 24/7 coverage for emergency services, including on-call and late schedules.
This position may expose employees to infections, blood-borne diseases, toxic chemicals, low-level radiation, and varying situations, including emergencies. It requires protective gear and long, irregular hours, with potential judgment actions that can impact patient outcomes.
