The VP, R&D and GPS Communications is responsible for developing the narrative of BMS' scientific innovation, including internal and external communications strategy, execution, and measurement of worldwide R&ED communications through all channels, in alignment with business objectives. Also responsible for leading strategies/tactics to engage patients and educational/science global alliance relationships. Working closely with the R&ED organization and its leaders, leads integrated communications strategy across the product pipeline, as well as internal communications and executive communications for R&ED Leaders. This experienced leader will contribute to reputational issues and risk mitigation at the global level as it pertains to topics related to BMS' pipeline.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work cross-functionally to set strategy, influence business leaders and drive the company toward one cohesive narrative.
- Act as the leadership voice for the company among the media as well as CSR and sustainability stakeholders; produce maximum reputational, investor and community/policy impact while ensuring strategic emphasis on CSR.
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with US and international media; lead team to engage with and promote a clear global corporate narrative.
- Collaborate with corporate, functional and market/region leadership to define BMS' corporate identity.
- Lead efforts to align corporate position statements to corporate reputation and narrative, in partnership with government affairs leaders.
- Develop and oversee an integrated, worldwide content strategy and plan, including editorial governance, channel selection and focus, syndication and metrics that are aligned to business priorities and the corporate narrative.
- Responsible for the global editorial structure to ensure all content across corporate, functional and brand/product communications is integrated and aligned in support of business objectives.
- Build content creation capabilities on a global scale through implementation of a model for sourcing and curating content across functions and markets/regions, for both internal and external audiences.
- Design and implement measurement practices to actively manage, optimize and communicate performance against operational objectives across worldwide reputation strategies.
- Oversee worldwide strategy and management of issues and risks that threaten the company's corporate reputation (e.g. value/pricing, public policy, etc.), including design and implementation of issues and crisis management processes for BMS to identify, monitor, communicate and respond to issues at a coordinated, enterprise-wide level.
- Lead work on CSR goal-setting, leveraging data from across the company and through partners to set benchmarks and goals; provide strategic guidance to leaders and business lines accordingly.
- Lead integrated team to establish and maintain relationships with key community stakeholders and global partners, setting engagement guidance and relationship management protocols.
- Work closely with HR and Corporate and Employee Communications, providing program partnership and strategic guidance around activities to promote BMS' reputation and improve overall retention and recruitment efforts.
- Provide leadership and management to CA employees as part of leadership role.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- 15-20 years relevant experience, including at least 10 years management experience. Proven experience driving successful corporate reputation strategy.
- Proven experience overseeing the development and editorial direction of world-class multimedia across traditional and digital formats.
- Highly knowledgeable about media, content and CSR best practices and the competitive/regulatory landscape.
- Significant experience leading people and especially cross-functional teams.
- Strategic thinker, able to identify and champion new ideas and approaches.
- Strong analytical skills and experience using data to drive recommendations to S. management.
