Job Description Summary/Objectives: The General Manager will have oversight with the Sales, Parts, Service, and Body Shop on all processes for the company’s products and services within their area of responsibility. The position will ensure consistent, profitable growth in revenues through positive planning, deployment, and management of personnel. Identifies objectives, strategies, and action plans to improve short-term and long-term sales and profitability. This person will also work directly with the bus manufacturer for pricing and production schedules. Collaboration with the Executive Team in establishing budgets and recommending the most realistic goals. This person will also collaborate with other GMs at Midwest Bus Sales to maximize efficiencies and meet corporate objectives. This person establishes and manages effective programs including Thomas Built Bus Platinum Support to compensate, coach, appraise, and train all personnel.
Essential Functions:
- Performs sales activities on top accounts, negotiating sales price and discounts in consultation with the Executive Director of Operations.
- Manages personnel and develops sales, parts, service, body shop, and all their supporting staff.
- Reviews progress and forecasts revenue in sales, parts, service, and body shop.
- Develops specific plans to ensure revenue growth in all company products.
- Provides quarterly results assessments of productivity.
- Directly responsible for monthly, quarterly, and yearly updates to specific pieces in the TBB Dealer Strategic Plan.
- Coordinates proper company resources to ensure efficient and stable results.
- Assists in establishing personal contact and rapport with top echelon decision-makers within the customer base, including but not limited to the top 10 and upgradable accounts.
- Collaborates with Executive Director to develop sales strategies to improve market share for all product lines and service offerings.
- Uses the company’s inventory software application to track and run reports.
- Reviews RFPs and Quotes to develop strategy for pricing and winning business opportunities.
- Holds regular meetings with sales, parts, service, and body shop staff.
Competencies: Proficient communication skills (Written and Verbal). Valid driver’s license, clean driver record, and criminal background. Stress tolerance/flexibility. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite or related software is required. Understanding multigenerational workforce trends. Provide high-impact performance feedback. Focus on rewarding and motivating employees.
Supervisory Responsibility: The General Manager directly supervises the Lead Sales or Sales Staff, Service/Body Shop Manager, Parts Lead, and Reception/Office Manager.
