What You’ll Do
The Technology Enabling Development Lab (TED) focuses on the host interface firmware layer that sits at the intersection of system software and flash management firmware. This technology drives Samsung’s breakthrough V-NAND technology and enables our customers to power performance-oriented, demanding, enterprise-class applications ranging from hyper-scale data centers to big data processing and software-defined virtualized storage arrays and infrastructures.
We seek a highly-experienced, dynamic, self-motivated engineer to support our cutting-edge Enterprise and Data Center SSD products. The ideal candidate should be well-versed in storage system and device-level test, validation, and failure analysis. Responsibilities include monitoring quality metrics to ensure trends demonstrate a constant improvement in product quality.
Location: Hybrid, working onsite at our San Jose office 3 days per week, with the flexibility to work remotely the remainder of your time.
- Conduct OCP compliance tests for our datacenter SSDs.
- Conduct failure analysis from host/system side, collecting debug information such as device logs and bus traces for further analysis.
- Develop Linux or Windows-based test cases for FW feature validation.
- Provide support at OEM sites to collect logs or bus traces for failure analysis.
What You Bring
- BS in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or similar majors, and 5 years of relevant experience; or a MS in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or similar majors with 3 years of relevant experience is required.
- Hands-on experience with system or device-level issue analysis.
- Hands-on experience with Storage protocol (e.g., NVMe/PCIe) and logical/signal analyzers.
- Programming/scripting skills (Perl, Shell, or Python preferred).
- Comfortable working in a multi-functional team.
- Familiarity with OCP spec is a plus.
- Strong experience with test case development is a plus.
- Experience with system or device-level performance analysis.

What We Offer
The pay range below is for all roles at this level across all US locations and functions. Individual pay rates depend on various factors—including the role’s function and location, as well as the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, education, and training.
