The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) partners with the CEO and executive team in creating strategy and guiding decision-making to advance the business. In this newly created role, the CFO will provide executive oversight for all business's financial functions, including monitoring cash flow, protecting profitability, collaborating with capital partners, and continually assessing the company's financial position against growth objectives. This position leads high-performing Finance and Accounting teams to ensure sound, accurate, and timely reporting.
The ideal candidate is a big-picture operational finance leader with proven success working as a partner to the business and as CEO to drive growth. S/he will be a strategic student of the industry, identifying relevant market trends and building financial preparedness for emerging opportunities and challenges. This person will have a strong grasp of the Accounting and Finance functions and a successful record in hiring and developing high-performing teams.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Advise senior and operational management members on financial priorities, policies, and initiatives.
- Develop and direct financial plans from the strategic business plan to enable continued growth and ensure the organization is poised to capitalize on market opportunities.
- Maintain executive responsibility for financial operations, including working capital, capital expenditures, debt levels, taxes, budget, and general accounting.
- Manage finance and banking, insurance, and shareholder equity relationships.
- Manage processes for financial forecasting, budgets, consolidations, planning, and analysis.
- Ensure reporting tools are in place to continually monitor results, enhance efficiencies, and provide feedback on strategic initiatives.
- Establish and maintain stable cash flow management policies and procedures, ensuring cash resources are available daily.
- Set up and oversee all financial and operational controls, internal audit processes, and organizational performance metrics.
- Play a lead role in expansion activities, including investments, corporate alliances, and acquisitions.
- Prepare, review, and file federal, state, third-party, and other financial reports to ensure compliance with GAAP, SEC, IRS, and other taxing entity and regulatory requirements.
- Lead, develop, mentor, and train the existing team.
- Hire and develop additional qualified financial professionals motivated to achieve common goals and maintain the organization's highest levels of trust and integrity.
- Work closely with production leaders to optimize operational efficiencies and grow their skills in using financial data to guide business decision-making.
Required Skills and Experience:
- BS in Accounting or Finance required; CPA or MBA preferred.
- 20+ years in progressively responsible financial leadership roles.
- Experience in manufacturing is preferred, ideally to include custom build settings.
- Demonstrated success as an operational vs. accounting CFO; knowledge of and experience in treasury requirements.
- Proficiency in cash and tax management.
- Experience working with private equity-backed businesses is preferred.
- Successful history in managing banking relationships and risk management.
- Experience with EOS preferred.
