Senior Director of Fund Accounting
JOB SUMMARY
A senior Financial Officer responsible for leading and managing the full fund finance function in a region or country. Directs and provides overall strategic management of an accounting department focused on fund level accounting services, to include planning, organization, and staffing. Oversees the department's financial performance through budgeting, analysis, and interpretation of business trends. Collaborates with clients, investors, and organizational leaders to ensure operations that support optimal client service and satisfaction. Supports new business initiatives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Financial Statement & Budgets: Responsible for the region or country fund financial budgets, forecasts, and reports. Reviews fund financial statements and provides strategic insights, analysis, and comments. Reviews the work of junior team members. Prepares and maintains annual department budgets. Reviews various financial reports, department reports, and other accounting documents for accuracy. Manages portfolio budgets, forecasts and reports for clients/investors. Communicates interpretation of reports to stakeholders and executive management.
- Monitors Financial Performance: Serves as a liaison between accounting personnel, management, and external investors and customers. Strategically builds relationships with key stakeholders and leadership members both internally and externally, to ensure service levels and financial objectives are being met. Develops performance measures that support the company's strategic direction and manages departmental processes to ensure there is a high level of efficiency.
- Treasury Function: Oversees the treasury/cash management function. Negotiates with banks and financial institutions, handles financing arrangements and execution of loan agreements. Maintains relationships with external parties. Manages financial/legal/tax risks and ensures segregation of duties and a suitable control framework is in place. Develops and implements departmental internal controls, financial policies, and procedures. Continuously evaluates departmental processes to ensure maximum efficiencies, conformity to internal policies and procedures as well as supporting internal controls.
- New Business Participation & Structuring: Serves as a member of the sales team in the pursuit of new fund level business. Develops responses to RFPs and attends and participates in sales pitches to present accounting solutions. Prepares and delivers financial presentations to client's senior management. Structures investments, financing (debt), and may oversee multiple and complex deals. Oversees fund structuring (setting up/maintaining), joint venture structuring and underlying inquiries, subscriptions, and redemptions terms and conditions.
- Pricing Platform & Fund Valuation: Develops and maintains fund pricing platform. Provides pricing estimates for new business and renewals and determines pricing for scope of service changes. Recognizes, suggests, and pursues consulting opportunities to managers, market leaders, and/or investors and clients. Serves as a member of the pricing team representing client accounting services.
- Investors' Contact: May be the single contact point for senior levels of the fund investors or may delegate.
- Transitions: Leads all aspects of internal and external property and client transitions. Works with other internal teams in handling special requirements as defined in the Management Agreement and scope of services in the Financial Services Agreement. Reviews and analyzes contracts and leases.
- Systems Implementation: Leads systems implementations. Signs off on audits. Works with other internal teams in managing special requirements or projects. Researches and remains current with changing business climate and applicable state and federal regulations related to fund accounting practices.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages the planning, organization, and controls for a major functional area or department. May be responsible for a mix of direct and matrix reports. Approves subordinate's recommendations for staff recruitment, selection, promotion, advancement, corrective action, and termination. Effectively recommends same for direct reports to next level management for review and approval. Monitors appropriate staffing levels and reports on utilization and deployment of human resources within own area. Leads and supports staff in areas of staffing, selection, training, development, coaching, mentoring, measuring, appraising, and rewarding performance and retention. Leads by example and models behaviors that are consistent with the company's values.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Degree from a four-year college or university program with an emphasis in accounting, finance or related field required. A minimum of 15 years accounting experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Requires prior management experience.
CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES
Certified Accountant qualifications in relevant jurisdictions.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret the most complex business documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive issues. Ability to write reports, manuals, speeches, and articles using distinctive style. Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on complex topics to employees, clients, top management, and/or public groups. Ability to motivate and negotiate effectively with key employees, top management, and client groups to take desired action.
FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE
Requires in-depth knowledge of financial terms, principles, and compliance. Reviews complex financial/business analysis and reports prepared by subordinates. Ability to analyze the most complex business/financial data and develop innovative solutions. Develops and implements financial policies and procedures. Approves and oversees department budget. Strong technical financial skills and comprehensive knowledge of GAAP, FASB, REIS, IFRS.
