Job Description:
BASIC PURPOSE: Acts as the liaison between WISE -- a member driven organization -- and Assumption University, oversees the administrative operations and financial details of WISE, and works closely with WISE's officers and Council members (including committee chairs) in the conduct of their responsibilities.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Serves as a liaison between WISE members & the staff, faculty & students of AU.
- Ensures that WISE functions within the parameters set forth in the agreement between the two entities, respectful of the mission of Assumption University.
- Recommends, implements, improves policies, procedures & programs to achieve & further the mission of WISE.
- Assumes responsibility for all operations at WISE & collaborates with the Curriculum Committee & Clubs Coordinator.
- Works with the Chair of the Curriculum Committee & ensures that WISE programs are high quality, robust, diverse, & include a wide range of subjects.
- Works to increase the number & diversity of new instructors & the courses they present.
- Maintains & enhances close relationships with educational & cultural partners at AU & coordinates educational & special programs.
- Helps identify ideas, plans, programs, courses, events, & trips & assists in developing schedules, logistics, space arrangements & other program details.
- Secures all on-campus & off-campus classroom & lecture venues.
- Leads marketing & community outreach efforts, including public relations, advertising, social media, website, email newsletters, & public speaking engagements. Presents talks about WISE at meetings of community groups to introduce WISE to the wider community.
- Maintains & updates all content on the Website.
- Tracks membership & course revenues & reports on trends.
- Undertakes outreach efforts to the Greater Worcester community, with efforts to increase membership.
- Works with appropriate individuals at AU to help promote diversity within the WISE membership.
- Leads the annual appeal, planned giving, special events, & other development efforts, including grant writing.
- Develops resource materials, including handbooks, guides, etc. for use by the membership & by outreach programs.
- Works with the Treasurer to develop the annual budget & provide monthly updates.
- Prepares the Executive Director's report, supports the Chair of the Advisory Council in scheduling, developing meeting agendas & assembling reports.
- Supervises the Program Assistant in conduct of her/his assigned functions in support of WISE.
- Maintains & updates the WISE repository of data to ensure continuity, institutional memory & support the WISE Dashboard of Metrics.
- Meets regularly with the Dean, School of Graduate Studies & other individuals at AU as necessary.
- Fosters interdisciplinary learning opportunities through connecting WISE activities with Assumption University faculty, students, & courses.
- Develops annual goals & provides yearly progress reports to the Advisory Council.
- Undergoes an annual performance review by the Advisory Council & the Dean, School of Graduate Studies, at AU.
- Fosters a culture of teamwork, participation, respect, acknowledgement, inclusivity & transparency.
Requirements:
- Ability to lead & work with a nonprofit lifelong learning program for older learners, the Worcester Institute for Senior Education (WISE), as an official program of Assumption University.
- Knowledge of adult learning audiences.
- Advanced leadership, organizational & communication skills, including creative problem solving & team building.
- Patience, tact, & the ability to work with a wide variety of members, volunteers, & the public.
- Problem-solving skills, creativity & flexibility.
- Demonstrated educational, financial & information technology skills.
- Experienced & high comfort levels with Microsoft Office, online learning tools, especially Zoom, website maintenance, social media, online registration systems & email newsletter programs.
- At least two years of communications experience including writing, public speaking, & relationship-building.
- Bachelor's Degree, at least three years of administrative experience & two years of supervisory experience.
