General Technical Director Trainee

The 2025 Talent Development Program for General Technical Director Trainees begins in January 2025. This paid mentorship program spans up to 16 months, offering emerging developers hands-on experience in animation technology and artistry. As a Technical Director Trainee, you will:
- Develop a working knowledge of the production pipeline in a supported training environment.
- Work closely with an assigned mentor to learn the filmmaking process and production environment at Walt Disney Animation Studios.
- Design and write tools and processes to support artistic departments.
- Become proficient in supporting CG animation artists across various areas.
- Collaborate with other trainees, fostering a teamwork-oriented atmosphere.
- Address real-time feedback with the guidance of a mentor.
- Participate in studio events to integrate into the studio's culture.
Key Qualifications:
- Emerging developers with less than 3 years of experience in the Animation Industry or individuals with up to 5 years in another technical capacity.
- Recent graduates with a degree in computer science, a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Scripting proficiency in Python.
- Experience with Linux or Unix operating systems.
- Experience with commercial graphics packages such as Maya, Houdini, and Global Illumination Lighting packages is a plus.
