The Annual Giving team at CU Boulder encourages applications for a Director of Annual Giving, DXO and Pipeline Development! The team works to support CU Boulder’s vision to be an authority in addressing humanity’s challenges through practices built on creating a positive donor experience.
Boulder Central Annual Giving works in close partnership with the Schools, Colleges, and Units on campus, Marketing and Communications, and Donor Relations, as well as colleagues employed by the University of Colorado Foundation and System Advancement, to advance the mission of CU Boulder Advancement.
Under the guidance of the Senior Director of Annual Giving, the Director of Annual Giving, DXO and Pipeline Development is responsible for creating a leading a leadership annual giving program at CU Boulder, that focuses on securing new, recurring, and upgraded gifts between $1,000 and $25,000 in support of key performance indicators, including the establishment of a leadership AG officer team with operations based on standard processes that keep an eye towards future-state opportunities, while understanding and supporting the goals and priorities of Schools, Colleges, and Units and CU Boulder leadership.

Vision and Leadership
- Creates the leadership annual giving program at CU Boulder, establishing a development officer team, including hiring, onboarding, training, and development, designed to support leadership annual giving efforts.
- Supports the expansion of Boulder Central Annual Giving in its role as a key team member supporting top of the funnel donor engagement and stewardship.
- Develops future-state strategies and operations in partnership with annual giving leadership, designed to improve annual giving outcomes and find efficiencies.
- Researches, evaluates, and recommends new strategies and technologies, and supervises their implementation in support of leadership annual giving efforts.
- Collaborates closely across Advancement, including data insights, donor relations, major and principal gifts, finance and budget, and marketing and communications to achieve a cohesive approach to annual giving strategies and processes.
- Partners with peers in the System Advancement office, supporting system-wide initiatives when applicable.
Operations
- Oversees the leadership annual giving program for Boulder Central Annual Giving, setting goals that align with institutional priorities, providing guidance to staff, tracking results, and managing portfolios.
- Establishes policies and processes towards a consistent approach in the use of data, as well as the documentation of strategies, gift and contact reports, and solicitation and stewardship reports.
- Maintains a portfolio of donors and prospective donors, conducting outreach through established communications channels and exploring future-state outreach when possible.
- Partners with school, college, and unit (SCU) advancement teams to align portfolios and strategies, towards the establishment of gifts and the movement of donors through the donor continuum.
- Establishes and is responsible for key vendor relationships supporting leadership annual giving efforts, which may include researching vendor partners, the execution of RFPs, and contract management.
- Responsibly manages a staffing and operations budget.
- Prioritizes a baseline of annual giving strategies founded on standard processes.
Management
- Provides direct supervision to a team of leadership annual giving officers focused on leadership annual giving fundraising efforts, evaluating performance, coaching, and mentoring to build a positive and productive team that upholds the core values of CU Boulder Advancement.
- Supports staffing priorities that support qualitative and quantitative long-term annual giving goals, with a focus on building an established leadership annual giving program capable of adopting future-state fundraising strategies.
- Partners with peers in the System Advancement office, supporting system-wide initiatives when applicable.
Campus Support
- Partners closely with CU Boulder campus and SCU-level gift officers to align a campus focused annual giving messaging strategy, aligned with a campus-wide vision of strategic priorities and initiatives.
- Partners closely with CU Boulder professionals who pursue entry and mid-level annual gifts through direct outreach, including direct mail/email efforts, digital campaigns, and crowdfunding campaigns.
Data and Reporting
- Aligns annual giving efforts with existing data capabilities, using the donor database, campus data/information, reporting tools and communication platforms.
- Tracks leadership annual giving officer performance to evaluate outcomes, understand progress towards our goals, and advise the strategic direction of annual giving efforts.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience or combination of education and experience may substitute.
- 3+ years of professional, job-related experience.
