JOB MISSION:
New Balance’s Vice President, Global Sportwear Apparel will be responsible for developing and leading the strategic plan for the global sportwear category. This role will own the overall profitability of the global business unit, tracking key measures and metrics to improve business results and achieve annual performance objectives. Partners with senior leadership and other key managers providing leadership to ensure full collaboration with the apparel matrix including Footwear and Accessories partners, Development and Design, Regions, Merchandising, Marketing, Finance, Sourcing, and Operations to drive results.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Lead and effectively communicate the strategic direction and vision of the Sportswear Apparel GBU, including long term planning, strategic programs, and initiatives.
- Craft compelling product stories that captivate and inspire consumers, driving excitement and emotional connection with the brand.
- Partner with footwear teams to leverage and drive rich head to toe storytelling and connectivity.
- Drive apparel innovation by identifying emerging trends, fostering creativity, and implementing cutting-edge designs and technologies to stay ahead in the market.
- Manage a world class team to excellence, including recruitment, assessment, coaching, and development of team members to ensure top performance and future succession at all levels.
- Evaluate the marketplace to better understand the broad spectrum of consumer product, market, and technology trends. Work with Global Brand Management and Consumer Insights to align the GBU with NB brand positioning efforts. Develop strategies that resonate in the marketplace and develop desired financial outcomes.
- Forecast business opportunities and internal resources required to ensure continued growth and success of the GBU.
- Drive operational excellence as a GBU focused on fabric and style efficiencies, timeliness, and execution.
- Champion apparel throughout the organization through strategic communication and impactful education.
REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS:
- Seasoned, proven leader with track record of managing and developing large world class teams in a matrixed structure.
- Strong business acumen including expertise in financial practices, P&L management, operations, etc. and experience in long-range, annual, product, and financial planning.
- Ability to create a compelling vision and develop high-profile, influential and collaborative relationships across teams, functions, and layers.
