Salesforce's Global Field Marketing (GFM) organization is a fast-evolving team at the forefront of this mission. We currently have an opening for an experienced Director, Marketing Strategy & Operations to join GFM's Operations team. This team provides strategic resource allocation decision support to the GFM Executive Vice President (EVP) by helping to optimize the allocation of existing resources worldwide to align with organizational priorities. As the leader of a high impact team, the Director, Marketing Strategy & Operations will set the bar for being a collaborative, trusted business partner that can operate in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards. This role will act as a bridge across the larger Salesforce Marketing organization, connecting strategy through effective planning and establishing key processes and standards. The Director will have direct reports and be a manager of managers.
Responsibilities:
- Build Marketing Spend and Workforce Planning Functions: Ensure that marketing leaders are supported on all planning and forecasting motions by delivering a consistent set of budget management tools, enablement, and reporting. Engage with cross-functional teams across Salesforce to ensure that the systems used for spend execution are efficient for field marketers.
- Resource Allocation: Lead strategic resource allocation conversations across GFM and prepare for Salesforce CMO and GFM leadership discussions.
- Business and Finance Partnership: Provide insight to the business and Finance leadership regarding the current resource landscape and identify and recommend levers to drive operational leverage through resource prioritization and allocation.
- Decision Support: Apply strategic and systems thinking into resource planning to improve Return On Investment, including scenario and sensitivity analyses. Set up analysis frameworks and processes that take into account the impact of external factors, size of addressable markets, competitive landscape, and existing commitments on a 3-year time horizon.
- Headcount Benchmarking: Operationalize Key Performance Indicators related to headcount efficiency and proactively recommend a course of action where needed.
- Mentor and Teacher: Act as a trusted advisor to marketing leaders across the organization, ensuring clear lines of communication are consistently maintained and encouraging a culture of new ideas.
Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science, or related field AND 8+ years of experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership, or finance, or related field.
- OR Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science, or related field AND 4+ years of experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership, or finance, or related field OR equivalent experience.
- Prior experience in team leadership and motivating and inspiring a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 8+ years of financial analysis experience, preferably in a high-tech company.
- Revenue Planning and/or Consulting experience is a plus.
- Proven communication and presentation skills. Can easily present sophisticated financial issues to non-finance executives.
- Demonstrated experience in developing sophisticated financial models and scenario analysis, able to show quantitative analysis skills.
- Ability to influence and impact without authority, operate in ambiguity, and tackle difficult problems, combined with the ability to prioritize and function well in a dynamic and matrixed environment.
- Interpersonal and cross-group collaboration skills. Ability to drive simplicity within a sophisticated and matrixed environment.

For Washington-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $159,000 to $230,600. Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
