Position Summary
The person in this position is responsible for the overall planning, organization, and execution of all IT functions for the City of Cleveland, which includes interaction with all City of Cleveland employees relating to information technology issues. The person in this position will manage and provide direction and leadership to all Information Services and Telecommunications areas.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Staffs, leads, and directs all City of Cleveland computing, information, and communications functions.
- Communicates with all City of Cleveland stakeholders on the functions, accomplishments, plans, and measurables associated with areas of responsibility.
- Develops long-range computer and communication architecture including strategy, budgets, and emerging technologies.
- Develops and maintains annual ITS operations budgets.
- Follows all operations and safety policies and safe work practices.
- Attends and participates in operations and safety training classes and demonstrates competence (demonstration of competence may be determined by exam).
- Wears and properly utilizes safety equipment in accordance with Divisional policy at all times.
Education and Experience:
A High School diploma or GED is required. A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field from an accredited four-year college or university is required.
Seven years of full-time paid experience in the IT field is required. In addition, two years of progressive management responsibility is also required.
Must have a demonstrated technical knowledge of current computer and telecommunications hardware and software particularly relevant to large-scale public sector systems and operations.
Must possess the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
Must possess the ability to effectively manage time, negotiate contracts, create and carry out strategic planning, work independently, and work varied hours.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift a minimum of 30 pounds.
