Senior Director, Operational Excellence (Commercial Manufacturing & Supply Chain)
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced leader to drive operational excellence across our commercial manufacturing and supply chain organization. This role will be pivotal in driving scalability, improving turnaround time, and ensuring excellence across all aspects of our complex supply chain. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in coaching, teaching, and managing high-performing Operational Excellence teams in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Hybrid role and candidate must be living in the Boston area and in the office 3 days/week at minimum.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement the operational excellence strategy for commercial manufacturing and supply chain processes, focusing on optimizing efficiency, quality, and scalability.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives to improve processes that may range from compliance/GxP to technical to business/organizational and deliver results that improve key performance indicators.
- Analyze and improve complex end-to-end supply chain processes to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of our medicines.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements, minimizing turnaround time and maximizing supply chain performance.
- Support scalability by identifying bottlenecks, assessing risks, and proposing solutions for process improvements within the supply chain.
- Provide insights and recommendations based on data analysis to inform strategic decisions across the commercial manufacturing and external supply chain.
- Develop and execute training programs to enhance internal operational capabilities and ensure alignment with business goals.
- Act as a key influencer and leader across all levels of the organization, driving cultural change towards continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Manage, mentor, and coach a small, high-performing team to drive operational excellence initiatives and improve overall supply chain performance.
- Mentor and develop team members, promoting a culture of problem-solving and continuous learning.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum of 12 years of experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing and supply chain, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in operations and continuous improvement/lean/operational excellence.
- Six Sigma or Lean certification. Black belt certification preferred.
- Proven experience in process improvement, lean methodologies, and change management.
- Knowledge of GMP regulatory requirements.
- Ability to work with and influence all levels of the business.
- Proven record in coaching, teaching and driving a high performing team.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with a focus on collaboration and team development.
- Ability to think critically and make data-driven decisions.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
