Position Overview
We are seeking a VP of Product Marketing to lead a team that defines customer engagement through messaging, positioning, and competitive insights. You’ll lead go-to-market planning and execution, drive product definition, solutions and content marketing, and deliver sales tools and enablement. This high visibility, strategic role works collaboratively across the company, is the interface between sales and product management and will report to the Chief Marketing Officer.
As a key leader, you and your team will both promote existing products to customers and partners and drive strategic product planning. You will partner closely with the engineering teams to shape our product roadmap and own the launch of new features and initiatives that will accelerate our growth, drive user satisfaction and develop our brand. You will be responsible for being the voice of the customer, identifying new markets, technologies, and customer trends & building/running strategic marketing campaigns. You will educate, inspire, and motivate the organization with your insights.
Job Responsibilities
- Messaging and positioning: Develop and articulate compelling value propositions that are clear and differentiated.
- Positioning: Develop messaging and positioning for key buyer personas.
- Competition: Understand our markets and top competitors in order to deliver compelling messages that effectively position our offerings.
- Thought leadership: Define, shape and execute a thought leadership strategy based on our core values. Identify key industry experts, analysts, and creators who can elevate our story and define the future of our category.
- New Product Introduction: Lead, coordinate, and work across the marketing, product management, and sales teams to execute product launches that highlight our innovations and drive demand.
- Sales Enablement: Create and deliver materials for the sales team and partners, including sales training, presentation materials, customer case studies, solution briefs, FAQs, and battle cards that help drive solution adoption and create sales excitement & success.
- Marketing Content: Collaborate with the communications demand teams to deliver on strategy content to feed the branding and lead generation efforts.
- Product Launch: Drive the external market launch of future products and releases in partnership with Product Management.
- Competitive Intelligence: Be the expert on competition and ensure the sales team knows how to differentiate and de-position them in the field.
- Voice of Customer: Responsible for competitive intelligence, customer insights, category trends and thought leadership.
- Partner Marketing: Assist in the development of strategic partnerships and co-marketing initiatives.
- Packaging & Pricing: Develop compelling packaging and pricing for Brightcove’s growing set of offerings and capabilities, along with supporting sales tools.
- Internal Partnership: Work cross functionally with leadership to establish a roadmap for driving revenue growth through strategic business planning. Develop strong partnerships with Product, Engineering, Sales, and Finance Leadership.
- Build data-backed measurable KPIs for all product marketing activities.
Qualifications/Experience
10-15 years’ experience in a senior product marketing leadership role within global B2B and SaaS organizations. People-focused leader with the ability to build and mentor talented, collaborative teams; develop people; and link performance to culture and overall business objectives. Strong experience presenting externally to media, customers and partners as well as internally to senior executives. Proven track record of delivering enterprise wide product marketing strategy. Demonstrated track record of driving growth and achieving business results. Demonstrated experience in developing efficient strategies and business plans in product marketing. Thorough knowledge of marketing principles, brand, product and service management. Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in marketing or business (MBA) preferred.
