UCF IT:
UCF IT is the central information technology organization at the University of Central Florida, providing technology services and support to faculty, staff, and students. Reporting to the Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer, UCF IT comprises several key departments, including Infrastructure & Operations, Telecommunications, Enterprise Application Development, Information Security, Instructional Resources, and Client Services. UCF IT collaborates with university stakeholders through governance frameworks and advisory committees to ensure alignment with UCF’s strategic goals. With a focus on innovation, security, and excellent service delivery, UCF IT supports the university’s mission of teaching, learning, research, and community engagement.
The Opportunity:
The Enterprise Architect IV will play a crucial role in guiding and shaping UCF IT's on-premises enterprise technology systems. Expertise will be pivotal in defining and articulating a technical and architectural vision that aligns with the university's strategic objectives. This role encompasses planning and designing systems for both compute and storage, encompassing physical and virtual environments. This position will work collaboratively across teams and stakeholders to develop new on-premises and private cloud systems and applications, driving forward a system architecture that not only meets but anticipates the evolving business needs of the university.
Responsibilities:
- System Architecture & Design: Design and implement the hardware infrastructure architecture for Server Virtualization, Enterprise Data Protection, and Storage. Ensure that technical solutions are robustly designed and implement industry best practices to meet the university’s business needs.
- Technology Forecasting & Reporting: Proactively research and stay informed about emerging technologies. Engage in professional development and networking to anticipate future technology trends, providing actionable insights and reports to guide the university’s strategic direction for on-premises enterprise systems.
- System Optimization & Automation: Utilize system automation and management tools to monitor system performance. Make data-driven recommendations for optimizing business workflows, ensuring systems are effective and aligned with industry standards.
- Security Compliance & Cloud Infrastructure: Vigilantly maintain security standards, best practices, and procedures during the design, implementation, and maintenance phases of both public and private cloud infrastructure.
- Collaboration & Service Delivery: Partner with leadership and peers across infrastructure, applications, network, and security domains to ensure exemplary service delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Follows SOP's within UCF IT and the Infrastructure department to perform: Change Management, Request Management, Incident Management, and Problem Management functions within ServiceNow. Works to meet service level targets to ensure a high level of service delivery.
- Integration and Implementation: Architect and implement the private cloud infrastructure, ensuring integration with existing systems and alignment with organizational requirements. Ensure seamless integration between private cloud components and other IT systems, including on-premises and hybrid cloud environments.
- Data Protection and Security: Design and enforce security policies and practices to protect cloud infrastructure and data, including access control, encryption, and compliance with regulations. Implement robust data protection strategies, including backup solutions and disaster recovery plans to ensure data integrity and availability.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of relevant experience; or High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 9 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 8-10 years of experience in enterprise systems architecture.
- Experience in implementing private cloud infrastructure solutions.
- Familiarity with hybrid cloud environments.
- Relevant certifications related to virtualization, storage, and backup systems architecture.
- Experience with ServiceNow for IT service management.
- Strong technical leadership experience with a history of successful cross-functional collaboration.
- Experience with disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
Special Instructions to the Applicants:
This position must be available 24/7 in case of an emergency and may be asked to work during emergency situations including early, late, weekend, holiday hours and/or university closures such as during a hurricane, since UCF IT is considered a “mission essential” component of UCF’s operational capability.
This is a hybrid position with 3 in-office days per week.
