Job Summary:
The Senior Director of Data and Analytics will lead and oversee the strategic direction and execution of all data and analytics initiatives within the organization, identifying related people, system, process, and data gaps and required operating model steps for prioritization and remediation. Leveraging extensive experience and expertise in data strategy, management, analysis, and interpretation, the senior director will drive data-driven decision-making across departments to optimize business processes and achieve organizational goals and strategic objectives. Responsibilities will include developing and implementing data governance policies, overseeing data architecture and infrastructure, managing a team of data experts, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement. Additionally, the senior director will play a key role in shaping the organization’s data strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives and industry best practices. Success in this role will require strong leadership skills, a strategic mindset, and deep understanding of data technologies and methodologies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Sets the vision, strategy, and roadmap to deliver thoughtful and innovative data and analytics solutions that fulfill the needs of the enterprise.
- Uses advanced data modeling, predictive modeling, and analytical techniques to interpret key findings from company data and leverage these insights into initiatives that will support business outcomes.
- Works closely with leaders across different areas to support and implement high-quality, data-driven decisions and strategies.
- Establishes and ensures consistency to an enterprise data governance framework for data policies, standards, and practices across the organization.
- Facilitates the development of robust business intelligence tools and strategies to optimize usage and deployment of resources to drive business value, including enabling analytics to more effectively find insights that lead to quicker action and better outcomes.
- Delivers exceptionally by developing high-impact solutions, guiding teams using expertise, best practices, appropriate work direction, strategic guidance, and performance management.
- Presents insights, findings, and recommendations to senior executives in a clear and compelling manner. Effectively communicates complex analytical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Delivers thought leadership by exploring new ways to enhance, develop or execute insights through data and analytics (new partners, new technologies, innovative use of existing solutions).
- Acts as a trusted advisor and builds and maintains relationships with C-level executives and business unit leaders to develop a clear understanding of business needs.
- Fosters a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and improvement within the data and analytics team. Encourages the adoption of best practices, new methodologies, enhanced modeling techniques, and emerging trends in the field.
- Creates and owns a budget outlining current and future data team, technology and process needs and initiatives.
- Builds and owns vendor relationships to assist with expediting the implementation management of data initiatives.
- Demonstrates meticulous attention to detail and possesses a strong orientation towards results, utilizing data deliberately to guide business priorities and inform investment decisions.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in data science, statistics, computer science, or related field
- 15 years of progressive related job experience
- 10+ years of experience building high performing, innovative and engaged teams
- Minimum of 10+ years of experience surrounding data management or governance, including 5 years in senior leadership role
- Advanced expertise in setting ambitious, tangible, and measurable targets and driving quality execution while operating with a sense of urgency, decisiveness, and responsiveness
- Highly proficient in advanced analytics and data visualization tools
- Experience working with senior / C-level business executives
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree
- Financial services or banking experience
- Experience with modern product management and agile delivery principles and frameworks as applied to digital capabilities and experience
