The Senior Engineer, Data Security Engineering will play a pivotal role in building and optimizing the organization’s data security posture. The role involves working on advanced security solutions, creating secure data architectures, and ensuring the protection of sensitive data across on-premise, cloud, and hybrid environments. This position demands deep technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate with multiple teams to enforce strong data security practices.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Security, or a related field or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of progressive infrastructure and/or security engineering experience that includes:
- 3+ years’ technical hands-on experience in data protection solutions.
- 2+ years’ experience planning, deploying, managing and maintaining data security tools and programs in a large enterprise.
- 2+ years’ experience in data discovery, classification, monitoring and protecting sensitive data.
- 2+ direct and hands-on experience with in data security technologies such as Data Discovery, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB), encryption and key management.
Preferred:
- Active Information Security Certification - Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or Certified Data Privacy Solutions Engineer (CDPSE), or equivalent.
- In-depth experience with data security controls and compliance standards for public cloud environments.
- Proficient in Data Protection Principles and Control Frameworks - CSA, NIST, PCI DSS, GDPR, and CCPA.
- Familiarity with Scripting Languages: Basic proficiency in Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
- Effective Communication and Collaboration skills at working across both technical and business teams.
- Strong Analytical and Problem-Solving Abilities for addressing complex security challenges.
- Proven ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks, manage competing priorities.
- Excellent communication, analytical and planning skills.
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
- Design, development, deployment and management of data security solutions.
- Implement security measures to protect data at rest and in transit across multiple environments, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations (GDPR, CCPA, etc.).
- Conduct regular data security assessments, identify vulnerabilities, and recommend remediations to improve data protection.
- Collaborate with data governance teams to define and implement policies that ensure data security and integrity.
- Develop and implement security automation tools and processes to continuously monitor, detect, and respond to data security threats.
- Assist in the evaluation and implementation of products and/or procedures to enhance security.
- Design, track, and aggregate on data security KPIs and risk metrics.
- Assist in data breach investigations and contribute to incident response strategies to minimize data security risks.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering growth and knowledge sharing within the team.
- Stay current with emerging data security regulations, trends, technologies, and threats to continuously evolve the organization’s security posture.

The salary range for this position is $132,900 to $160,300 annually. In addition to the annual salary, the position will be eligible to receive an annual bonus.
Washington Applicants Only: Employees will accrue 0.04616 PTO balance for every hour worked and eligible to receive minimum of 7 holidays annually.
