This position manages multiple projects and programs simultaneously while leading the statewide team day-to-day. Success at obtaining external funding in support of Extension programming will be an emphasis of the position due to past reductions in state allocations. Active stewardship in the development of programs to meet CES standards, activities and outreach that align and reflect the mission of UAF, IANRE, NIFA and Alaskan communities will be required. Acting as a national representative for UAF CES both in-person and remotely as well as fostering external partnerships are paramount to the success of this position.
The UAF Institute of Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Extension (IANRE) is seeking a dynamic person to lead Cooperative Extension Service (CES) in Alaska. This person will provide leadership, coordination, and oversight of all Extension programming, evaluation, and reporting statewide. This position will be responsible for setting the vision for Extension in Alaska and directing CES in collaboration with the IANRE Director and leadership. Coordination of CES program area leads to develop activities and outreach that align and reflect the mission of UAF, IANRE, NIFA and Alaskan communities will be paramount. Acting as a national representative for CES both in-person and remotely will be required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in human development, education, agriculture, business, extension or related field and seven (7) years progressively responsible experience in University Cooperative Extension Service. Experience in leadership of groups across diverse cultural and geographic settings, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Master's degree preferred.
Must have a valid driver's license and the ability to obtain an Alaska Driver's License upon hire.
Position Details:
This position is located on the Troth Yeddha' campus in Fairbanks Alaska. This is a full-time, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 83, based on education and experience.
All final candidates will be asked to deliver a 30 minute presentation to an audience of the Institute of Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Extension personnel, university wide community and the general public on the following:
"Share your vision for a statewide Cooperative Extension program appropriate for Alaska over the next decade, given our economic, geographic, and climatic challenges" a question and answer session will follow the presentation.
