The DME Manager provides oversight of the Anchorage and Fairbanks DME Loan Closet personnel and inventory. As a member of Access Alaska’s Programs Management Team, the DME Manager participates in internal and external meetings. He communicates and coordinates with community members to support safe and healthy outcomes using DME items. Their efforts ensure the DME Loan Closets are clean and that donated durable medical equipment and supplies are sanitized and in good repair. The prepared items are loaned to community members, consumers, and employees upon request if available. In addition, the Access Alaska DME Manager assures the DME Specialists assist Loan Closet customers with the paperwork process and, if needed, support with loading the items in their vehicle.

The DME Manager will manage and provide oversight of received donated equipment, the completion of minor repairs, sanitizing/cleaning, and maintaining durable medical equipment (walkers, shower chairs, toilet chairs/seats, crutches, canes, knee scooters, manual wheelchairs, hospital beds, etc.); document work activities and maintain equipment inventory; safely use general repair hand tools and a specialized sanitizing and cleaning machine known as a Hub Scrub; work outside in various weather conditions; complete minor construction and repair work; and assure accurate purchasing, repair, and inventory records.
- The position requires an individual with excellent customer service skills, a professional image, and the ability to communicate effectively.
- Must be organized, efficient, and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Work with a community-based, individualized support services agency for individuals with disabilities and their families.
- It is required that employees be able to protect and maintain the confidentiality of customers’ health information and follow standard operating procedures to ensure compliance with HIPAA.
- Provide consumers with demonstrations or explanations of the correct operation of more complex equipment.
- Assure the environments are maintained clean and organized. The work areas have unobstructed exits for the main building and outbuildings, walkways, and entrances in front and back of the building, meeting OSHA regulations.
- Maintain safety practices as required for chemicals used while operating the Hub Scrub, ladders, electric and battery-operated equipment, tools, etc.
- Support the Mission and Vision of Access Alaska.
- Must be aware of all appropriate safety and injury protection.
Educational Requirement
A high school diploma is preferred for credentialing/specialized training in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, etc.
Experience
- 5 years of relevant work experience with minor equipment repair, general mechanical, and maintenance experience.
- Five years of supervisory experience.
- Ability to read diagrams.
- Ability to utilize essential hand tools: wrenches, screwdrivers, battery drills, saws, etc.
Equipment
- Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, One Note, One Drive, Teams, Zoom, Website usage, Computer, phones, Copier, Printers, Scanner, Fax Machine.
Knowledge of the following is not required but would be helpful
- CIL Management Suite, Harmony.
- POs and receipts submission.
- Running & reporting cash and credit card donations.
- Completing Inventory.
- Outreach and Marketing.
- Hub Scrub Machine use and maintenance.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to lift 50 lbs. independently.
- 75 lbs with assistance.
- Move 10 lbs repeatedly.
- Ability to talk and hear.
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk.
- Hand and finger dexterity.
- Vision.
- Depth perception.
- Ability to focus.
Work Hours and Days
Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm.
Rate of Pay
$33.32 to $36.86 DOE
Full Time Exempt.
