POSITION TITLE: Director Of Nursing / DPCS / DON
DEPARTMENT: Nursing Services
POSITION PURPOSE:
Responsible for planning, organization and administration of nursing services to include staffing, training and development, communications and documentation to maintain quality patient care standards and advise medical staff, and the administrator in matters related to nursing services.
REQUIREMENTS:
Registered Nurse with two years of experience within the last five years in home health, primary care clinic or health facility. At least one year of which in a supervisor position-preferred.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain a quality stable staff to meet the level of acuity of the home health care census.
- Ensure that the nursing staff receives sufficient in-service education, training and development to meet their needs for self-development and maintain current certifications.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans in collaboration with healthcare teams.
- Ensure compliance with Medicare regulations and standards of practice within the agency.
- Provide support as well as supervise nursing activities, verifying that medications are given as ordered and appropriate documentation is maintained to meet physician needs and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain quality care standards ensuring that admissions and transfers are appropriate considering the patients level of acuity, the health care capacity and staff, and whether the patient has proper consent.
Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse (RN) license required; Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field required.
- Proven experience in nursing administration, preferably in home care, nursing home, and hospice setting.
- Strong knowledge of Medicare regulations and compliance standards.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage diverse teams effectively.
- Proficient in developing systems that improve patient care delivery and outcomes.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions based on patient needs.
