Our Ophthalmic Division is currently seeking a Regional Vice President to provide leadership, direction and support to multiple branch locations within the U.S. This is an excellent opportunity to join our team!
Job Summary
Responsible for the strategy and leadership for the assigned optical sales region to drive growth, profitability, and sales success. Responsible for executing strategic growth goals, strengthening and growing relationships with customers, leading sales team/account managers to achieve objectives and targets, and collaborating in a matrixed leadership model supporting branch managers to achieve service, quality, and financial metrics in partnership with the operations team.
Position Specifics:
- Drive sales growth.
- Lead and manage the assigned region sales team toward accomplishment of sales & profit objectives. Develop a strong sense of teamwork within the matrixed leadership structure with Sales Account Managers and Optical Lab Operations.
- Coach, train, and motivate Account Managers to initiate, maintain, cultivate, and grow long-term business relationships with key customers to deliver excellence and a high level of service. Interview, hire, coach, train, evaluate, and make necessary changes to achieve territory, branch, and regional goals. Ensure training, orientation, development, engagement, and performance management. Maintain appropriate communication and keep employees informed as to company/department plans and progress.
- Develop, implement, and execute strategies within the division to drive growth. Support Account Managers to effectively prospect for new business opportunities; establish and drive strategic goals for each territory & branch.
- Identify and report the needs of customers within the region; work with sales operations department to develop programs to satisfy those needs and assist Account Manager and customers in the execution of programs. Implement educational opportunities, promotional activities, and other consultative selling.
- Collaborate with VP Operations/Operations Managers and Regional Operations Directors to ensure that all operational procedures are followed toward the goal of maximizing branch productivity. Partner on feedback received to support operational excellence with a focus on quality, turnaround time, and service. Support development and implementation of plans to establish profitable, efficient, and effective operations.
- As a member of the optical leadership team, develop and implement strategies, operational policies, and programs that guide division and organizational competitive position and profitability. Collaborate with peers to establish consistency and sharing of best practices.
- Provide proper training, work direction, and technical guidance. Attend in-house or Walman sponsored training meetings when necessary to assure proper cross-training in all aspects of position requirements and maintain current knowledge of products and services.
Experience/Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Marketing or related; MBA preferred
- Minimum of 8 years in sales with increasing responsibilities of sales of a complex nature. Experience in selling to Eye Care Professionals a must; experience managing P&L, sales and operations teams, and/or a business unit.
- Must possess strategic planning, excellent leadership, development and execution skills, technical/data analytics skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite of Products. Analytical skills required.
- In-depth knowledge of sales, marketing, distribution and project planning.
- Proven ability to manage, coach, and improve the performance of the sales team and operations team to support business growth, success and achievement of goals.
- Ability to design and execute business strategies to address efficiency, quality, and growth targets. Demonstrated track record in effective customer communication and customer relationship management/sales force administration.
- Strong knowledge/expertise of medical devices, business and budgeting.
- Ability to help others achieve their goals in a productive, team-oriented manner.
- Must be a problem solver, decisive, and results-oriented with an ability to lead and motivate team members to achieve results.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and driving record that complies with the Walman Optical Co. Motor Vehicle Policy. Approximately 60% travel with overnight/weekend requirements.
