This is a unique type of position that requires significant individual initiative and motivation to learn and understand both existing and new scientific methods and knowledge. The Research Scientist will be given the opportunity and be responsible for conducting independent and creative research related to the overall mission of the laboratory. This is an ideal position for those considering graduate school in a related field or medical school in the near future (up to two years).
Overall Responsibilities:
- Acquire an in-depth understanding of the field in which they are working.
- Work with the PI, as well as independently, on the planning, design, execution, troubleshooting, and interpretation of experiments.
- Make detailed observations, record data, and present results.
- Assist post docs and fellows in the day-to-day activities and interpret experiments related to assigned projects.
- Contribute to ongoing laboratory projects and use independent judgment to address tasks and projects.
- Identify and refine existing procedures and practices.
- Participate in the management of a small rodent colony.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in biology, microbiology, immunology, molecular biology, or biochemistry.
- Prior experience in a laboratory setting.
Required Credentials: N/A
Preferred:
- Research experience in biochemistry, molecular biology, and tissue culture techniques is highly preferred.
Compensation Range: $25.85 - $38.78 per hour
Salary Information:
This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.
