The Opportunity
The MR F&C NA Head of Distribution will be part of the MR F&C Leadership team and will actively lead, develop and manage our Broker relationships. The Head of Distribution will ensure implementation of broker strategies are aligned with underwriting strategies to ensure realization of Munich Re Group’s One KPI.
Key Responsibilities of this position include:
- Drive the design and development of Broker Strategies to profitably grow existing books of business factoring in market dynamics and competitor behavior. Ensure alignment with underwriting strategies.
- In cooperation with F&C Business Development, develop and execute the MR F&C distribution and marketing strategy.
- Identify business opportunities, develop and foster strong relationships, including C-suite executives of our insurance distribution partners.
- Hold staff accountable for setting an ambitious strategy, the accomplishment of objectives and key results which ensures progress on meeting MR F&C’s ambitions for clients and brokers.
- Plan necessary resources to achieve defined strategies and objectives and ensure cooperation across F&C lines of business and departments.
- Interact with counterparts across Munich Re to bring the full complement of products, services, and solutions to a client/broker in coordination with respective units/groups/functions.
- Build and manage a pipeline of distributor sales opportunities, including opening new relationships.
- Be responsible for all Producer Management activities.
- Evaluate and create Management information, metrics, analytics, and predictive analytics that help make Munich Re a partner of choice.
- Establish and maintain C-suite relationships at reinsurance brokers.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business and/or equivalent work experience required. Advanced degree preferred.
- 15+ years’ (re)insurance experience in underwriting multiple lines of business and/or in Relationship Management preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of (re)insurance principles and procedures plus experience with primary insurance.
- Adept at understanding, embracing and championing a shared strategy.
- Aptitude to design and implement strategy.
- Strategic thinker with an aim at being solution-oriented and results-focused.
- Strong interpersonal and social skills with a special focus on relationship management.
- Exceptional communication skills that energize and engage clients and colleagues, with the ability to convey a vision and client-focused solutions.
- Proficiency with Microsoft software (Word, Outlook, Excel, Power BI) and other relevant computer applications.
- Willing and able to travel approximately 30%.
We will consider candidates in our Chicago, IL or NYC, NY offices. The salary range posted below applies to the Company’s NYC location.
The base salary range anticipated for this position is $294,300- $431,600 plus opportunity for company bonus based upon a percentage of eligible pay. In addition, the company makes available a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, 401k match, retirement savings plan, paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO).
The salary estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for candidates hired in this position in NYC. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have, and comparison to other employees already in this role. Most candidates will start in the bottom half of the range.
