VitreoRetinal Surgeon - Assistant Professor / Associate Professor / Professor
The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences is seeking an academically-oriented surgical retina specialist to join our department and expand the retina service at both University Hospitals (UH) / Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) and the Louis B Stokes Veterans Administration Hospital (Cleveland, OH). Academic rank and salary are commensurate with experience.
The department supports an 18 resident Ophthalmology residency training program (6 residents per class), as well as fellowships in Retina, Pediatric Ophthalmology, and Glaucoma. A robust and active clinical trials team, the Vision Research Coordinating Center, supports investigator-initiated trials as well as NIH and corporate sponsored studies.
Clinical research opportunities are available working with our nationally recognized Vision Research Coordinating Center staff (currently directing the NEI-funded Diabetes Endothelial Keratoplasty Study along with numerous retina and non-retina clinical trials) and our internationally recognized Retinal Image Analysis Reading Center.
The successful candidate must maintain high clinical and ethical standards, adhere to compliance measures, foster a high level of patient satisfaction, and promote an atmosphere of unity through collaborative practice and effective communication. Excellent diagnostic and surgical skills are required. We are looking for someone with a strong interest in teaching. The candidate must be Board Certified/Board Eligible in Ophthalmology, with subspecialty training in Retina. The candidate must also possess/maintain a current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Ohio.
