As a Director of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate Sector's Finance Risk Data and Controls - Finance Technology team, you lead a technical area and drive impact within teams, technologies, and projects across departments. Utilize your in-depth knowledge of software, applications, technical processes, and product management to drive multiple complex projects and initiatives, while serving as a primary decision maker for your teams and be a driver of innovation and solution delivery. This position offers a chance to be part of a top-tier Systems, Applications and Products (SAP) technology team where you can explore the boundaries of product excellence.
Job responsibilities
- Leads technology and process implementations to achieve functional technology objectives while executing creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems.
- Works with the SAP basis team to understand challenges in server configurations, memory set up and work actively in enhancing the processing capabilities of the S4 Hana systems.
- Makes decisions that influence teams’ resources, budget, tactical operations, and the execution and implementation of processes and procedures including existing test automation tools to enhance automated regression and functional testing and enrich the CI/CD capabilities in the landscape.
- Carries governance accountability for coding decisions, control obligations, and measures of success such as cost of ownership, maintainability, and portfolio operations.
- Delivers technical solutions that can be leveraged across multiple businesses and domains.
- Champions the firm’s culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect while influencing peer leaders and senior stakeholders across the business, product, and technology teams.
- Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems.
- Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture and will drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies.
- Assist the SAP Application owner in creating compliant solutions while targeting getting to SDLC compliance, close product security gaps and implement common security framework to close known gaps.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 10+ years applied experience.
- In addition, 5+ years of experience leading technologists to manage, anticipate and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise.
- Proficiency in SAP programming language(s) including OO ABAP, Web services, S4 Hana developer tool expertise.
- Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods and have advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security.
- Experience developing or leading cross-functional teams of technologists within software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.).
- Experience with hiring, developing, and recognizing talent.
- Experience leading a product as a Product Owner or Product Manager.
- Deep experience with both the configuration of the S4 Hana General Ledger solutions in IMG as well as the ABAP extension solutions to enhance the product suite.
- Practical cloud native experience where applicable in the S4 Hana world.
- Having the necessary expertise in merger/acquisition efforts in integrating ledger solution for new entities.
- Expertise in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Experience working at code level.
- Knowledge in integration tools & SAP Security and has the ability to work on cross system integrations using Idoc/ALE and other integration methods commonly prevalent in the SAP industry.
- Experience in data modelling using HANA Studio, ABAP Development Tools (ADT), Code Performance Rules and Guidelines for SAP HANA, ADBC, Native SQL, ABAP Core data Services, Database Procedures, Text Search, ALV on HANA, and HANA Live models consumption.
- Experience in developing and deploying custom SAP UI5 applications using SAP Cloud Platform, Web IDE and developing applications with consumption of ODATA services.
- Understanding SAP to MQ integration & Kafka and solving issues in the data transfers between disparate systems.
