Role and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Vice President and Deputy General Counsel, this role manages the new business intake and conflicts team to identify potential legal conflicts and relationship management issues and resolve legal conflicts related to new matters (including bankruptcy matters and other complex matters) and new hires.
- Assisting with management and coordination of new matter intake and conflict review processes, including identifying information gaps, legal conflict concerns, and other legal risks relevant to new matter consideration.
- Assisting with management and coordination of matter and conflict review in connection with the onboarding of new BRG professionals.
- Reviewing and analyzing conflict check results and communicating relevant information to BRG professionals.
- Implementing and administering best practices for data maintenance and system management in Intapp.
- Providing legal guidance to BRG professionals and strategic decision-makers on legal conflicts of interest and other legal issues relevant to new matter intake.
- Facilitating and organizing strategic discussions regarding new matter intake with BRG professionals and executive leadership.
- Collaborating with BRG’s Engagement team regarding legal considerations relevant to engagement documentation.
- Facilitating conflict of interest disclosures with BRG professionals, clients, and/or their legal counsel.
- Drafting, negotiating, and executing conflict of interest waivers.
- Providing legal counsel regarding issues raised by BRG professionals and clients and/or their legal counsel.
- Assisting other BRG attorneys with other conflicts and client engagement review issues, as needed.
- Administering, maintaining, and updating BRG’s ethical wall processes and procedures.
- Reviewing, negotiating, and/or executing confidentiality protocols and undertakings.
Qualifications
- JD and Admission to a Bar in a jurisdiction that BRG conducts business: Illinois or DC preferred, Dallas considered.
- Three plus years of conflict experience using InTapp Conflicts gained in a large law firm or a management consulting or similar professional services firm with a global, complex structure.
- Prior direct experience with the preparation, review, and analysis of bankruptcy-related conflict checks.
- Strong communication, organizational, and staff management skills along with a technical ability to maintain records and present information.
- An interest in bringing new ideas forward and improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the client intake function.
- Willingness to collaborate as part of a highly regarded client service delivery team.
