Job Overview
The Division Manager for Aerospace and Defense is responsible for overseeing the operations and performance of the Milwaukee division, focusing on ensuring profitability, meeting operational goals, and driving the division toward continuous growth and improvement. This leadership role involves working closely with senior management to align the division’s objectives with the company’s strategic goals and leading a team to achieve excellence in service delivery, product development, and customer satisfaction in the aerospace and defense sectors.
Responsibilities:
- Provide vision and leadership to the Aerospace and Defense division, ensuring alignment with company objectives and driving long-term growth.
- Oversee daily operations within the division to ensure productivity, quality, and safety standards are met, specifically in aerospace and defense-related production.
- Lead, mentor, and manage division staff, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and high performance.
- Manage the division's budget, including cost control, forecasting, and profitability analysis. Ensure financial targets and performance metrics are achieved.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key customers and stakeholders in the aerospace and defense industry to ensure satisfaction and identify new business opportunities.
- Identify areas for operational efficiency and implement initiatives to improve processes, reduce costs, and increase productivity.
- Ensure that all operations comply with legal and regulatory requirements, including safety standards and company policies, with a focus on defense-related compliance.
- Set clear goals and objectives for the division, track performance, and implement corrective actions when necessary to meet targets.
- Work closely with other divisions and senior leadership to ensure company-wide goals and initiatives are supported and integrated.
Experience:
- Proven experience in a leadership role within the aerospace and defense industry.
- Strong understanding of financial management, budgeting, and forecasting within a business unit.
- Demonstrated ability to manage large teams and lead high-performance groups in achieving operational and financial goals.
- Experience with process improvement methodologies, such as Lean or Six Sigma, is preferred.
- Strong customer relationship management skills and a demonstrated ability to drive business development in the aerospace and defense sectors.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working across departments and divisions.
Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Operations, Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in a managerial role with direct responsibility for division or unit operations in the aerospace and defense industry.
- Strong financial acumen, with the ability to analyze data and make strategic decisions.
- Experience in aerospace and defense production environments is essential.
