Position Overview:
The Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) is responsible for developing and executing the company’s marketing strategy, with a strong focus on driving growth through distribution channel and category management. This role requires an experienced marketing professional with experience in category management, brand development, and go-to-market strategies. The CMO will oversee the marketing team ensuring alignment with the company’s overall business objectives.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing strategy that supports the company’s growth objectives and enhances brand recognition within distribution channels.
- Develop, lead and manage a team of category managers, ensuring that each category's strategies are aligned with overall company goals and market demands.
- Provide strategic guidance to a high-performance team of marketing professionals fostering collaboration and innovation.
- Collaborate with sales and distribution teams to optimize channel strategies, ensuring effective product placement, promotion, and pricing across all distribution partners.
- Oversee brand positioning and messaging to ensure consistency across all marketing channels, including digital, print, and in-store.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and consumer behavior to inform strategic decisions and identify new opportunities for growth.
- Develop metrics to evaluate effectiveness in reaching customers across all channels.
- Utilize consumer research and business analysis to assess ROI and drive a culture of agility, action, and accountability.
- Manage the marketing budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources across categories and marketing initiatives.
- Work closely with product development, sales, and operations teams to ensure cohesive and effective go-to-market strategies.
- Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of marketing strategies and adjust plans as necessary to achieve targets.
- Oversee digital and marketplace sales performance, ensuring these channels are effectively managed and aligned with overall sales targets and business objectives.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA or equivalent is preferred.
- Proven experience in a senior marketing role, preferably as a CMO or VP, Marketing, with a focus on distribution channels.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and mentor a diverse team of marketing professionals.
- Extensive experience in developing and executing marketing strategies that drive growth and brand recognition.
- In-depth understanding of category management and the ability to translate market trends into actionable strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience leading medium to large scale business transformation efforts.
- Ability to work collaboratively and influence laterally.
- Experience leading centralized and remote teams in a corporate environment.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
