More Than Words (MTW) seeks a data and compliance driven strategic leader to provide comprehensive management of the organization's IT infrastructure across all MTW sites. Key responsibilities include managing Microsoft 365 for hybrid-joined individual laptops, server-based joined systems for operational computers, and ensuring the seamless operation and integration of Microsoft 365 with various programs such as Shopify, Indaba, and Airtame Cloud. Additionally, this position will be responsible for having a regular routine presence at all MTW sites and the ability to respond to technological emergencies. The Director of Information Technology will have a strong commitment to working directly with staff at all levels and a track record of managing IT systems in a mid-sized organization. More Than Words (MTW) is a nonprofit social enterprise that empowers youth, ages 16-21, who are in the foster care system, court involved, homeless, or out of school to take charge of their lives by taking charge of a business. This position reports to the Chief of Social Enterprise and works in partnership with team leads across the organization as well as serving as a professional resource for staff. Key responsibilities of this position include:
- Training and Development
- Develop and deliver new staff training as well as tailored training initiatives for various user groups, ensuring that each team member understands the specific features and functionalities of Microsoft 365 and SharePoint relevant to their roles.
- Collaborate with department heads to assess training needs and create instructional materials, guides, and tutorials to support ongoing learning and effective use of IT resources.
- Provide ongoing technical support and mentoring to staff, addressing any issues related to hardware, software, or network connectivity, and ensuring that all users can efficiently use their systems and applications.
- IT Infrastructure and Operational Management:
- Oversee the administration, configuration, and maintenance of Microsoft 365 for hybrid-joined laptops.
- Manage Active Directory and Group Policy for server-based joined systems used for operational computers.
- Ensure the integration and functionality of various software platforms, including Shopify (e-commerce), Indaba (inventory management), and Airtame Cloud (wireless screen sharing).
- Develop and maintain IT policies, procedures, and documentation, ensuring alignment with industry best practices.
- Implement robust backup and disaster recovery solutions.
- Monitor and optimize network performance, including firewall management, VPN configuration, and bandwidth allocation.
- Manage and maintain the organization's SharePoint site, including site creation, permission settings, and document management.
- Perform regular maintenance, updates, and patch management on all IT hardware and software.
- Conduct system audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities.
- Coordinate and manage IT support requests, providing timely resolutions to technical issues.
- Manage inventory and lifecycle of IT assets, including procurement, deployment, and retirement.
- Security, Compliance and Documentation:
- Develop and enforce IT security policies to safeguard the organization's digital assets.
- Implement and maintain endpoint protection, encryption, and intrusion detection systems.
- Ensure compliance with relevant data protection regulations, such as GDPR or HIPAA as well as ensuring staff are aware and are complying with up-to-date WISP and federal data protection policies.
- Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
- Report regularly to the Chief of Social Enterprise on IT performance, project status, and key metrics.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of IT infrastructure, configurations, and procedures.

- Preferably have prior information technology management experience in small to mid-size level orgs – 70-150 employees
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 administration, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams.
- Extensive experience with Windows Server environments, Active Directory, Group Policy, and virtualization technologies.
- Hands-on experience with network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
- Familiarity with e-commerce platforms (e.g., Shopify) and other relevant software (e.g., Indaba, Airtame Cloud).
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
- Proven ability to manage IT projects and budgets effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation: $75,000 - $90,000; commensurate with skills and experience
