What You’ll Do:
As Vice President of Business Development, you will be a key driver of Kailera’s growth strategy, leading efforts to identify, cultivate, and secure strategic partnerships, co-development opportunities, and licensing agreements. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will play a critical role in shaping the company’s business development strategy and advancing Kailera’s mission to deliver transformative therapies. Your ability to form high-value partnerships and drive business initiatives will directly impact the company’s long-term success and position within the biotech industry.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and Execute Business Development Strategy: Lead the development and implementation of Kailera’s business development strategy to support the company’s growth objectives and long-term vision.
- Partnership Development: Identify, evaluate, and establish strategic partnerships, alliances, and collaborations with external stakeholders, including pharmaceutical companies, research institutions, and healthcare organizations.
- Co-development and Licensing: Drive the negotiation and execution of co-development agreements and licensing deals that advance Kailera’s pipeline and strategic goals.
- Alliance Management: Oversee the management of established partnerships and alliances, ensuring alignment of goals, clear communication, and mutual success.
- Financial Management: Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial plans related to business development activities, ensuring sound financial decisions that align with corporate goals.
- Market Intelligence: Stay informed about industry trends, competitive landscape, and market opportunities, providing strategic insights that guide partnership decisions.
- Executive Communication: Present partnership and alliance strategies, progress updates, and outcomes to the executive team and board of directors.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Life Sciences, or a related field is required.
- MBA or advanced degree strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 12 years of business development experience in the life sciences sector, with a strong background in biotechnology or pharmaceuticals.
- Proven track record of securing strategic partnerships, co-development agreements, and licensing deals that drive company growth.
- Deep understanding of the biotechnology industry, market dynamics, and regulatory landscape.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills with the ability to influence key stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and emotional intelligence to navigate complex partnership dynamics.
- Expertise in creating and managing partnership materials, such as pitch decks, term sheets, and collaboration agreements.
- Self-motivated and driven, with a strong work ethic and ability to work independently.
- Analytical mindset with a focus on data-driven decision-making and problem-solving.
At Kailera, we are committed to fostering an inclusive culture. How we treat our people is reflective of this commitment. We share the pay range for this particular role with the actual base salary depending upon factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, market factors, and experience.
Salary Range:
$245,000 - $320,000 USD
