SUMMARY OF DUTIES
The Director of Events & Community Relations is a vital member of the Office of Advancement, which encompasses Fundraising and Communications. This position reports to the Chief Advancement Officer and works with the Advancement Team to set strategy for fundraising and community relations. The Director is responsible for the following:
Event
- Oversees a team of up to 2 staff members and multiple contractors and vendors.
- Directs the planning and execution of new and established fundraising and donor relations events. This includes all planning and execution of event logistics from start to finish and post event, acknowledgement, assessment, and fiscal reconciliation.
- Leads and collaborates on board and executive related events and activities as assigned. This includes logistics coordination and support. Partners with Communications team on related collateral.
- Primary liaison between internal/external stakeholders and contract vendors.
- Responsible for developing proformas and managing events budgets with reasonable cost of funds raised and ROI.
- Develops timelines and collaborates effectively with sponsors, communicates, partners, vendors, and volunteers to ensure deliverables are met.
- Collaborates with internal and external partners on the branding of and production of all event collateral and sponsor benefits.
- Responsible for marketing of event and promotions of events.
- Leads all communications and donor/sponsor relations.
Community Relations
- Oversees and manages community/corporate volunteer inquiries and opportunities statewide.
- Liaison to the CFS Guild, the volunteer force of the organization.
- Must effectively communicate the CFS mission and impact and will be required to speak about CFS at community events and meetings.
- Collaborates with internal partners in the Office of Advancement to identify and implement acknowledgement/recognition of groups and volunteers.
- Responsible for management of Activity Endorsement and In-kind forms.
- Leads volunteer training and recognition events and activities.
- Cultivates relations with corporations, community clubs and organization, to garner support for CFS.
- Partners with Communications Director to effectively promote and execute endorsed community events and activities.
This position requires consistent and predictable attendance. Some evening and weekend work will be required based on business needs. May be required to travel inter-island, including possible overnight trips.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
- Four-Year College Degree from a school accredited by a recognized accrediting agency - general major. Requires basic knowledge or training in a specialized or technical field or trade, such as social work, professional accounting, finance, business administration, and marketing.
- Other (Specify): Project Management Certification preferred.
EXPERIENCE
- Over four years, up to and including six years.
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs and applications.
- Exceptional communication skills including written, oral, and listening.
- Working knowledge of donor relations management software.
- Highly organized and deadline oriented with project management experience.
- Effectively manage multiple priorities with competing deadlines.
- Ability to think outside of the box and use structured problem-solving techniques to identify solutions.
- Strong critical thinking skills and ability to manage people and relationships.
OTHER POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- This job requires a valid Hawaii driver's license, a clear driver's abstract, and willingness to travel in personal vehicle on an as needed basis throughout the island.
- This position is subject to a criminal background investigation and continued employment is contingent on a record clear of convictions.
- Inside and outside contacts involving difficult negotiations, related to a major division or function, development of networks and development of teamwork. Requires well-developed sense of timing and strategy.
