How you will create an impact
AIG is seeking a strategic analytical leader to join our Global Data Office leadership team, reporting to the Global Chief Data Officer (CDO). As a trusted advisor to the CDO, this role will lead and oversee strategic planning, initiative performance, and operations of AIG’s Data and Analytics organization.
This role is responsible for advancing the overall mission and vision of AIG’s Data Office – working in a highly collaborative manner across other Data Office leaders, corporate functions and business partners.
- Drive strategic planning process for the Data Office including development of strategy, roadmap, annual priorities and related investment cases and communications for company-wide, global advancement of AIG’s data and analytics capabilities in partnership with the Chief Data Officer.
- Manage executive level stakeholder engagement to support the execution of the company’s data strategy, including development of C-suite updates on delivery of business capabilities and progress toward organizational objectives.
- Collaborate with program leaders to develop impactful materials that communicate both broader objectives and incremental value of data and analytics work.
- Provide portfolio level leadership over the Data Office’s delivery efforts and budget – serving as the primary liaison between the Data Office and PMO / Finance Teams.
- Own management and oversight of the Data Office operating expense and investment initiative budgets.
- Collaborate across initiative leaders to proactively identify, communicate, mitigate and manage risks and interdependencies across the Data Office portfolio of work.
- Take the lead on initiatives as well as special projects in collaboration with our enterprise business partners, including Communications, Strategy/Innovation, Finance, and Legal.
- Drive continuous improvement of the Data Office’s operating model including maintaining and maturing our resource and program forecasting capabilities, establishing and evolving value tracking metrics.
- Promote awareness of advancements in data and analytics related business capabilities delivered through Data Office initiatives, collaborating with Data Office leadership and corporate communications to craft and disseminate effective content.
- Lead coordination of internal leadership meetings with the Data Office, collaborating across senior leaders to prioritize and craft content to maximize effectiveness of these sessions.
What you’ll need to succeed
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited educational institution.
- An MBA or other advanced degree (preferred), or equivalent practical experience.
- 15+ years experience in insurance (strongly preferred), financial services, consulting or similar industries.
- 5+ years of experience with strategy consulting or on strategy teams in large companies.
- Experience building executive level deliverables (e.g., story lining a presentation).
- 5+ years experience leading large technology programs and/or complex transformation efforts.
- Demonstrated ability to partner, influence and navigate all levels of a complex organization often without direct authority, with significant focus on building alignment.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills.
- Ability to distill complex technology design and usage concepts into a business context.
- Understanding of core businesses processes (e.g. Underwriting, Claims, Operations, Actuarial) within the insurance industry and their related financial drivers.
- Experience in core principles for Data & Analytics, Regulatory Governance, Program Delivery and AI technologies.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to cultivate strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Entrepreneurial, can move projects ahead and overcome obstacles encountered without senior leader input; anticipates roadblocks.
- Understanding of industry trends in emerging technology and analytics.
