OVERVIEW:
Great management is essential to any successful retail organization. An exceptional General Manager achieves a hard-working, productive and effective workforce that maximizes financial goals, reduces costs, and elevates customer relations and satisfaction. They are responsible for the overall geographical market assigned to them and travel to shops is required.
ROLE:
This position is accountable for the day-to-day operations of the store unit(s) and holds a high responsibility to lead, coach, and develop Shop Managers and store coworkers. Previous people management experience is required. The General Manager is responsible for managing the Shop Manager and for all operational aspects of that shop unit under their responsibility and their Market as a whole.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- FIDUCIARY MANAGEMENT: The General Manager is responsible for achieving goals and targets outlined in the annual budget for each unit. Creating and maintaining an environment that is conducive to the continued growth of the business. This also includes business analytics, loan portfolio management, inventory asset management, and sales productivity.
- COMPLIANCE MANAGEMENT: It is the responsibility of the General Manager to ensure that all business conducted within City, State and Federal business guidelines, and requirements and compliant with all related ordinances. It is also the General Manager's responsibility to ensure that all licensing is current and in good standing for all units under their supervision. The General Manager is also responsible for ensuring that monthly audits are completed, including 4473 audits, high line jewelry checks, and all other EOM requirements.
- TALENT MANAGEMENT: It is the responsibility of the General Manager to ensure that the shop unit is fully staffed at all times, that there is a comprehensive succession plan in place and that team members receive all required training. This includes recruiting top talent and sourcing candidates through company-prescribed channels as needed, providing corrective discipline as needed, providing the appropriate feedback to subordinate coworkers to include coaching, training, as well as annual reviews of Shop Managers.
- ASSET MANAGEMENT: It is the responsibility of the General Manager to ensure that all compliance requirements are consistently met. To maintain all security provisions and ensure that all related security equipment is in full functioning order. To train and hold accountable all subordinate staff members to expectations and provide coaching and correction as needed.
- FACILITY MANAGEMENT: It is the responsibility of the General Manager to ensure that the facilities under their responsibility are in good repair and all known concerns are addressed in a timely manner by the Shop Manager.
- CUSTOMER SERVICE: It is the responsibility of the General Manager to facilitate a customer-centric environment by leading by example and engaging customers in a friendly and professional manner and rapidly addressing any customer issues to meet the lofty expectations and standards of the company.
- CODE OF ETHICS: It is the responsibility of the General Manager to ensure that all employees and management conduct themselves within the company's established Code of Ethics and that all business conducted within the unit and their sphere of influence are completed in accordance with the company's code of ethics.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Qualifications for General Managers:
- Minimum 21 years of age
- Previous people management experience required
- Previous multi-unit supervision is highly desired
- Ability to travel is necessary; therefore, they must possess a clean driving record
- Entrepreneurial spirit
- Strong desire to work, serve internal and external customers, and work with people; team-oriented
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Cash handling experience required
- High energy sales personality with knowledge of jewelry and general merchandise
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Solid written and verbal communication skills
- Analytical skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent work ethic and strong business sense
- Computer literate and able to use common office machines
