You understand the profound changes and disruptions reshaping the industry and recognize the opportunities they bring. With a solid background in strategy consulting, you are well-versed in everything from cost optimization to operating model design to innovation strategies, and you're ready to make a significant impact from day one.
Not only do you excel in solving complex business challenges, but you also bring a proven track record in business development. Your ability to draw upon your combined chemical industry expertise and consulting acumen allows you to guide clients in transforming their businesses. You have experience working with C-level executives—both within clients and within your own organization—fostering relationships that lead to major project wins.
The Work:
As a Principal Director in Chemicals Strategy, you will:
- Lead Business Growth: Drive profitable growth at both new and existing clients by shaping and articulating the value of transformative change.
- Engage Senior Leadership: Partner with client executives to identify key business challenges, structure engagements, and deliver innovative solutions.
- Provide Industry Expertise: Leverage your deep knowledge of the chemicals industry to bring clarity to complex and ambiguous problems, offering actionable insights and high-impact strategies.
- Solve High-Value Problems: Lead teams through the process of solving complex, high-stakes business problems, ensuring innovative and practical solutions are delivered.
- Oversee Project Execution: Plan, organize, and lead projects and workstreams, while guiding cross-functional teams through all phases of the project lifecycle.
- Build Client Relationships: Maintain close communication with clients to ensure Accenture delivers on promised outcomes.
- Contribute to Thought Leadership: Develop and refine frameworks and methodologies that contribute to Accenture’s knowledge base and strengthen the Chemicals practice.
- Shape Strategic Direction: Work closely with Accenture leadership to set the strategic direction for the Chemicals practice.
- Develop Deep Industry Expertise: Establish yourself as a trusted expert in the chemicals industry.
- Mentor and Lead: Serve as a trusted advisor to senior clients and a mentor to your internal team.
- Drive Business Development: Lead and support new business opportunities, follow-on sales, and marketing efforts.
- Recruit and Develop Talent: Take an active role in recruiting top talent, coaching junior consultants, and fostering their professional growth.
Minimum Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or Science (advanced degrees preferred).
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in management consulting, with a significant portion of that experience focused on the chemicals sector.
- Proven project leadership experience, including a minimum of 3-5 years of successfully managing large, transformational change programs in the chemicals industry.
- Deep industry expertise and knowledge of key market trends and challenges within chemicals.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at all levels, particularly with C-suite executives.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word) and other relevant tools used for strategic analysis and presentations.

- You hold a Master’s degree in Business (MBA) or an advanced degree in Engineering or Science.
- You have 3-5 years of experience working directly within a chemicals company.
- You have strong, established relationships with C-level executives in the chemicals industry.
- You possess specific expertise in corporate or business unit strategy, M&A, or a functional area.
- You have demonstrated thought leadership in the chemicals sector.
Compensation:
Compensation at Accenture varies depending on a wide array of factors, which may include but are not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience.
Role Location Annual Salary Range:
- California: $149,300 to $387,800
- Colorado: $149,300 to $387,800
- District of Columbia: $149,300 to $387,800
- New York: $149,300 to $387,800
- Maryland: $149,300 to $387,800
- Washington: $149,300 to $387,800
