Looking to amplify your impact to the business? BlackLine is seeking an agile and technically strong Director, Product & Technology Finance to partner with our Product, Engineering, and Cloud teams to maximize ROI across our R&D portfolio and build out unit economics to provide cost transparency. In this role, you will have the ability to influence management decisions, lead change, and challenge the status quo as BlackLine continues to scale for growth. You will also become the resident finance expert on our product and technology portfolio supported by 1-2 direct reports. This is a hybrid role (currently 2 days/week) located in Pleasanton, California with occasional travel to our Woodland Hills office.
You'll Get To:
- Build ROI rationalization and portfolio metrics for products and technologies in close collaboration with product owners, engineering leaders, technologists, and business operations.
- Drive successful business case analysis to prioritize and fund the highest impact functionality and technology modernization to enable faster long-term feature development.
- Partner with product and engineering leaders to create annual operating budgets, regular forecasts, and long-term strategic operating plans.
- Prepare presentation materials in support of Monthly Reporting Packages, Quarterly Business Reviews, and Executive/Board level presentations.
- Ensure disciplined financial management through real-time review of expenses and resource allocations; provide insights to business levers to improve roadmap outcomes.
- Collaborate with other finance and accounting teammates on the development and maintenance of our next generation financial framework.
- Manage and mentor 1-2 direct reports and help build and develop a nimble, high caliber Finance team.
- Run the Product & Technology Finance team calendar with focus on value delivery.
What You'll Bring:
Years of Experience in Related Field:
- 7+ years of proven experience in a finance, accounting, consulting, or related business function.
- Experience supporting SAAS Product R&D organizations or SAAS Product GMs.
Technical/Specialized Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Understanding of top line SAAS metrics and SAAS accounting principles – revenue recognition, ARR, Net Dollar Retention, CAC, etc.
- Experience building models that balance multiple variables and alternate ways of viewing the business, both for bottoms-up driver-based models and tops-down market-driven models.
- Analytical, communication, and influencing skills.
- Finance system proficiency.
- Bachelor’s degree in a business function such as accounting or finance.

Salary Range: USD $175,000.00 - USD $233,000.00
