This key position on the Freeport Press team requires a motivated individual that understands the needs of high-volume Direct Mail with close ties to the US Post Office. They must possess a solid grasp on United States Postal System regulations in their current form and stay abreast of all changes and the impact they may have on Freeport Press and their mailing customers including understanding how to reduce mail piece time in process, optimize mail processes, net financial outcomes, and working with USPS to deal with situations that require urgency. High level communications and continuous improvement are also foundational needs required in this position.
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate the necessary knowledge of USPS Postal Regulations and ensure they are keeping up to date on USPS changes.
- Manage the mail processing team as well as work with the logistics staff.
- Depth in understanding of all classes of mail, Manifest Mailing, Drop Shipment Procedures, International Mailing, Certified Mail, Mailing Permit Application, Mail Piece Design processes, Co-Mail, Commingling, etc.
- Review and recommend Postal documentation preparation enhancements in tune with USPS standards to avoid errors and/or rejections on mailing.
- Ability to effectively communicate mail list concerns/issues with Account Managers, Sales, Production, IT staff and/or customers in a professional manner as needed.
- Regularly attend and participate in regional mail forums such as Postal Consumer Council.
- Create customer focused and cost-effective services to achieve on time deliveries with documented ROIs.
- Maintain the excellent relationship that Freeport Press has with regional, local, and onsite USPS representatives.
- Create and provide relevant training offerings to Sales teams, department staff and support teams across the organization.
- Participate in RFP review for prospective customers and ask questions of Project Management, Manufacturing Leadership, or Sales team to ensure services provided are cost effective for the client.
- Responsible for reporting any problems related to meeting customer release date to Customer Service Manager.
- Maintain USPS job file records per USPS recordkeeping policies.
- Help customers acquire USPS Postal Permits as necessary.
- Review job proof for USPS mailing compliance per USPS DMM regulations.
- Coordinate USPS Postage transfers between permits as necessary.
- Provide CSR’s/ Sales with USPS container tracking reports as necessary on Co-mail and Commingle jobs.
Preferred Experience:
- Minimum 6 years’ experience in working with all facets of postal regulations with preferred direct contact postal representatives.
- A solid understanding of USPS policies, procedures and regulations.
- Strong working knowledge of mail list processing software and their various modules including BCC Redpoint software.
- Working knowledge of various file formats/types ( .csv, .txt, .dbf, etc.).
- Excellent computer/data processing skills through certification and/or previous job training.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proficient in MS Excel.
Education and Work Experience:
Work in an office setting about 80% of the time; work in a manufacturing or warehouse setting about 20% of the time; sedentary/sitting for about 75% of the time.
