1) Product Planning & Development
- Lead the overall planning and competitive marketing strategy for assigned products and solutions to meet revenue and profit goals.
- Develop and manage product market opportunities and growth initiatives per assigned discipline/product area.
- Lead and manage the development of new proposals and business cases.
- Ensure the market and business requirements across assigned products are aligned to customer needs and revenue and profit goals.
- Lead and manage ongoing market intelligence activities for assigned programs and develop deep customer insights and "job-to-be-done" to support new opportunity identification and business case development of new opportunities.
- Propose product concepts, business models, partnerships and financial alignment for program investment.
- Oversee and contribute to market research activities across discipline areas.
- Design product and marketing strategies and positioning using market intelligence.
- Monitor, report, and respond to competitive intelligence.
- Analyze and interpret market data and trends, provide recommendations to teams based on that analysis.
2) Author Management
- Management of Heinemann relationship with external Author and team.
- Collaborate with Author and team on product strategy and market positioning.
3) Advocate for products on Heinemann digital platform
- Work with digital platform Product Management and Engineering teams to advocate for necessary features and functionality to support assigned products.
- Collaborate with Product Owner to ensure proper prioritization decisions.
4) Product Life Cycle Management
- Drive financial performance of assigned product, including investment, revenue, and profitability.
- Analyze and evaluate market performance and product positioning.
- Collaborate with Development and Production leadership to determine timeline of product launch and sunset.
- Review and provide input on recommended investment and pricing strategy for product maintenance.
- Set goals, budget and business requirements for annual marketing strategy.
- Review and make recommendations on marketing plan that is created in Product Marketing based on identified marketing strategy.
- Contribute to go to market strategy for all new solutions across assigned programs.
- Guide Sales and Product Marketing in the transfer of the strategy to tactical and operational execution.
- Direct strategic options and responses before, during, and after key marketing campaigns; work closely with Sales leads to ensure correct strategy and execution.
- Serve as product and market expert for assigned programs across the HMH organization.
- Provide sales and services support and training.
- Assist with key customers.
5) Communication
- Maintain strong, ongoing channels of communication with sales force, Finance, Marketing, Platform, Learning Architecture teams, and other internal departments.
- Lead cross-functional teams to execute processes and plans.
What you'll need:
- Minimum 7 years of experience in K12 educational publishing, edtech, or Higher Ed.
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Experience in product management, editorial, consulting, sales or teaching in the Literacy discipline.
- Experience in lean-agile and design thinking methodologies to develop and launch products.
- Ability to prioritize fiercely with a user-centric mindset.
- Demonstrated strong leadership skills.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills; superior presentation skills.
- Superior inter-personal skills with all levels including executive management.
- Demonstrated conceptual & analytical thinking; vision; leadership & management; prioritization; collaboration; decision-making; negotiation; problem-solving; tactical execution; product & market knowledge.
Salary Range: $124,000 - 145,000
