Summary
The ITAM & FinOps Manager sits in the Technology Business Management Office department within the IT business unit, which is responsible for the business functions of Information Technology at NYPA. This position reports to the Senior Director, IT Strategic Planning.
The ITAM & FinOps Manager will be an essential resource in building out NYPA's IT Asset Management (ITAM) and Cloud Financial Operations (FinOps) functions and operations. They will be responsible for building on existing frameworks and systems to stand up these programs with strong attention to compliance and fiscal responsibility, continuously monitoring progress for continuous improvement, and evolve as the technology landscape continues to rapidly change.
Strong financial acumen and hands-on data analytical skills will be required. Understanding of industry standards and best practices are essential including ITIL, ISO 19770, and FinOps frameworks.
IT Asset Management responsibilities include governance, controls, compliance, and auditing including inventory and full lifecycle management for hardware assets such as end-user devices, network, and data center, as well as for software assets such as Commercial-of-the-Shelf (COTS), enterprise, and custom software. This will require collaboration skills across multiple teams and disciplines (Risk, Financial, IT infrastructure, IT Leadership) including executive level reporting.
FinOps responsibilities will require a solid understanding of how to roadmap and implement FinOps for all major IaaS, and PaaS cloud providers (Microsoft, AWS, Google) as well as SaaS solutions. Responsibilities will include the standing up of the FinOps discipline as well as ensuring ongoing monitoring and analyzing of usage and spend patterns, reporting/dashboarding, and recommending/implementing optimizations and risk mitigations.
This position must demonstrate leadership, relationship management, and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the organization, along with strong collaboration competencies and the ability to influence and get work done through others.
Responsibilities
- Support in the development and implementation of IT best practices in accordance with industry standards.
- Support the maintenance governance process, policies and procedures.
- Support the maintenance of repository and other tools supporting the governance process.
- Liaise with enterprise partners (e.g. Internal Audit, Risk, Business Controls, Finance) and collaborate across IT to ensure IT responsibilities to those partners are fulfilled (e.g. risk assessments, audit plan and audits, governance documentation updates).
- Collaborate with IT internal groups to ensure effective implementation of governance principles throughout project life cycles and maintenance upgrades.
- Familiarity with compliance principles to ensure IT Governance principles are not in conflict.
- Support change management controls to ensure internal IT controls are implemented.
- Support IT groups to help prepare budget documents, budget reports and expenditure analysis.
- Assist in developing training to ensure NYPA employees have reviewed and understand NYPA IT policies and procedures.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Advanced knowledge of systems supporting governance processes.
- Advanced knowledge of IT management frameworks (e.g. COBIT5, ITIL and ISACA) with the ability to remain informed of changing requirements.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build successful relationships across a wide range of IT teams, business unit leads and senior management.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to mentor and guide staff members, developing each team member's technical and professional skills.
Education, Experience and Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Finance, HR, Engineering, or related discipline.
- 6 years of experience with information technology as an analyst or in a technical role preferred.
- Utility industry experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
Up to 5% travel to NYPA site locations.
