The expected salary range for this role on hire is $105,649 - $178,490

WHO WE ARE
The Office of the County Attorney (OCA) is the Chief Legal Officer of Montgomery County Government and conducts all its legal business.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Montgomery County Government-Office of the County Attorney is currently recruiting for an experienced attorney to serve as Division Chief of the Division of Health and Human Services and as general counsel to the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).
The Division provides counsel and gives legal advice to the Department of Health and Human Services, including the Office of the Director and Management Services, Adult Mental Health, Aging and Disability Services, Children Youth and Family Services, Child Welfare Services, Crisis, Income and Victim Services, Emergency Services and Public Health Services. The attorneys in this Division also represent Child Welfare Services in the Juvenile Court, in cases involving child abuse and child neglect, and Aging and Disability Services in the Circuit Court, in adult guardianship cases.
The primary duties of the Division Chief are:
- Supervising attorneys and staff of the Health and Human Services Division in the Office of the County Attorney.
- Providing legal advice to the Director of Health and Human Services, the Manager of Child Welfare Services, and other agency employees.
Experience: Seven years of progressively responsible professional legal experience as an attorney in the field of child abuse and neglect litigation, HIPAA, and administrative law, three years of which were in a supervisory or executive capacity.
Note: The term “executive” is further defined as a high echelon or high-level position in an organization that is assigned technical research, management advisory services responsibilities, or policy-making duties and responsibilities that exert considerable influence on organizational policy, plans, and operations.
Education: Juris Doctor from an accredited college or university of law.
License: Membership in the Maryland State Bar.
Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

Those applicants who meet minimum qualifications will be rated "Qualified," placed on the Eligible List, and may be considered for interview. Employees meeting minimum qualifications who are same grade or higher will be placed on Eligible List as a "Transfer" candidate and may be considered for interview.
Preference for interviews will be given to applicants with experience in the following:
Prior legal experience in juvenile court and with health and human service programs, including mental health, aging and disability services, children youth and family services, child welfare services, emergency services, and public health services.
