This job is open toDutiesThe Deputy Assistant Director (DAD), Intelligence provides senior executive direction for the Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), Office of Intelligence (HSI-Intel). The incumbent serves as a key advisor to the Assistant Director (AD), providing day-to-day operational leadership and ensuring the AD's goals are met; advises on intelligence issues, programs, and requirements for ICE daily; directs the collection, analysis, evaluation, interpretation, and dissemination of information on trends and forces in foreign and domestic areas that directly or indirectly affect U.S. national security; ensures that HSI-Intel integrates its components into a robust force that supports the enforcement needs of ICE executive management, operational field units, as well as state, local, and tribal law enforcement partners; provides the AD with recommendations to increase overall effectiveness of intelligence operations; and provides leadership, coordination, and engagement with the Intelligence Community and foreign partners on intelligence efforts.
Additionally, the DAD, Intelligence:
- Working on behalf of and in collaboration with the AD and serves as a critical executive focal point of contact regarding intelligence issues ICE-wide; provides expert policy, strategic, and program planning advice to the AD; and serves as a principal advisor to ICE's Director regarding HSI-Intel programmatic, criminal, and civil investigations and requirements issues.
- Performing the full range of executive managerial, supervisory, and human resources responsibilities for over 200 personnel engaged in intelligence, criminal, and civil investigative related activities.
- Building coalitions and collaborating internally with senior HSI, ICE, and Department of Homeland Security officials on a regular basis; interacts externally with other U.S. Government officials regarding joint efforts in outreach, collaboration, and compliance issues; and collaborates and coordinates with other key ICE programs and offices to ensure an integrated and effective intelligence program.
- Consulting, coordinating, and engaging directly with senior officials within the White House, Cabinet-level departments, Congressional offices, and law enforcement and intelligence communities regarding various intelligence efforts; collaborates with foreign dignitaries, partners, nations and other entities, regarding international intelligence issues; and provides senior level ICE representation at multiple national and international conferences and meetings.

Qualifications1. BASIC QUALIFICATIONSAs a basic requirement for entry into the Senior Executive Service (SES), applicants must provide evidence of progressively responsible executive leadership and supervisory experience that is indicative of senior executive level managerial capability and directly related to the skills and abilities outlined in the Executive Core Qualifications and Technical Qualifications listed below. Typically, experience of this nature will have been gained at or above the GS-15 grade level in the federal service or its equivalent.
This experience should be sufficiently broad in scope and at a major management level in a large or complex organization. The ideal candidate will have experience supervising a large number of employees through subordinate supervisors and have experience hiring, developing, and evaluating employees. As such, your resume should demonstrate that you have the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully fulfill responsibilities inherent in most SES positions such as:
- Directing the work of an organizational unit;
- Ensuring the success of one or more specific major programs or projects;
- Monitoring progress toward strategic organizational goals, evaluating organizational performance and taking action to improve performance; and
- Supervising the work of employees, developing policy, and other executive functions.
If your experience does not include these basic qualifications, you will not be determined qualified for this position.
