Global Head of Technology - Survey and Inspection
We are seeking a visionary Global Head of Survey and Inspection to provide worldwide technical leadership, establish and maintain technical policies, and ensure consistency of standards within Lloyd's Register's Marine and Offshore business. The role will also focus on solidifying Lloyd’s Register’s reputation as a recognized technical leader in the Marine and Offshore industry.

The role
- Oversee the development and maintenance of Lloyd’s Register’s published survey regulations, procedures, and technical instructions for surveyors across all disciplines.
- Own the Survey and Inspection elements of the Technical Competencies Framework for Marine and Offshore, and contribute to the Survey & Inspection Technical Competency Assurance Committee.
- Manage the relevant Technology Programme, focusing on the development and qualification of new and alternative survey and inspection techniques.
- Coordinate and ensure the global deployment of specialist survey schemes, including Remote Survey, Remote Inspection Techniques, Risk-Based Certification (RBC), MPMS, and RBI.
- Actively engage with industry bodies such as IACS, IMO, Flags, Clients, Industry Groups, and OEMs to represent Lloyd’s Register externally.
- Maintain strong relationships between the Technical Policy Group, Director of Fleet Services, and Product Managers for Classification New Construction and In-service.
- Provide expert technical advice to resolve escalated issues and guide policy decisions, both internally and for clients requiring senior-level technical expertise.
- Foster a high-performance culture by managing and differentiating performance, developing talent, and building diverse and inclusive teams, aligning with strategies like FIT to Grow and Propel.
What you bring
- A graduate degree or equivalent from a recognized tertiary institution in engineering or physical sciences, along with Chartered status (or equivalent) membership in a relevant professional body.
- Extensive expertise in the Rules, Classification, and Certification procedures and processes, as well as a deep understanding of the technological requirements within the field.
- Proven experience and technical competence in survey and inspection activities, including their management.
- A well-established reputation within Lloyd's Register and the broader classification industry as a leading expert in the discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in successfully managing teams and effectively managing relationships through influence and communication.
- Some experience in business planning, proposing, and interpreting future strategies.
