Company Overview:
This company is a dynamic and rapidly expanding construction company, specializing in dirt work, excavation, and demolition projects. With an annual revenue of approximately $100 million and a workforce of over 300 employees, they are a key player in the industry. They are seeking a seasoned and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join their executive team and lead all financial operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Leadership:
- Oversee all financial functions, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial planning.
- Manage compliance with bank covenants, lines of credit, and bonding requirements.
- Develop strategies to optimize working capital, control costs, and enhance profitability.
- Lead financial risk management efforts and establish robust internal controls to protect company assets.
Strategic Planning:
- Provide executive leadership on financial strategy and contribute to long-term business planning.
- Develop and maintain financial models to support strategic decision-making, growth initiatives, and performance objectives.
- Collaborate with the CEO and leadership team to identify opportunities for expansion, cost control, and operational efficiencies.
Reporting & Compliance:
- Prepare and present accurate and timely financial statements and management reports to the CEO, board of directors, and key stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, tax laws, and industry standards.
- Act as the primary liaison with external auditors, banks, bonding companies, and other financial partners.
Team Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and accounting team to foster a high-performance culture.
- Implement best practices in financial management and reporting systems to drive departmental excellence.
Banking & Bonding Relations:
- Serve as the primary contact for all banking and bonding relationships, ensuring compliance with all agreements.
- Negotiate and manage lines of credit, loan agreements, and bonding facilities to support the company’s financial needs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive financial leadership experience, ideally in construction or related industries.
- Strong understanding of construction financial management, including job costing, WIP (Work-In-Progress) reports, and bonding requirements.
- Proven expertise in managing banking relationships, financial instruments, and compliance with covenants and bonding requirements.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and analytical skills with a collaborative approach to working with executive teams.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with construction-specific software and ERP systems; familiarity with Spectrum is a plus.
- Strong negotiation skills, particularly in managing relationships with banks and bonding companies.
- In-depth knowledge of industry regulations and compliance requirements specific to construction and trucking.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary range: $250,000 - $350,000, plus performance-based bonus.
