Job Description
The Content Strategy Senior Director role is part of the Global Content team, reporting into the VP of Content Strategy, Development & Distribution who is on the global marketing leadership team reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer. This individual will be part of a senior global team responsible for developing and scaling best-in-class content on behalf of Visa’s marketing positioning and voice.
This individual will oversee the evolution and ongoing management of Visa’s global social strategy including a deep understanding of our key audiences, culture and Visa’s role in creating value and relevance. This person should have experience and thought leadership behind:
- Audience Development, Behaviors, Insights
- Social Listening across industries, trends, and topics
- Social Platforms, Algorithms and Trends
- Influential and Emerging Cultural Spaces
- Brand Positioning and its role in Social
- Partnership with internal and external creative teams
- Experience and perspective on creator partnerships
- Performance and Measurement to Optimize
This individual will partner with Marketing Executives, global marketing functions – including brand strategy & innovation, insights & analytics, creative & production, digital, sponsorship, experiential, PR and comms, product marketing, etc. -, and the five regional brand marketing teams.
Essential Functions:
- Contribute to the organization’s understanding of high impact audiences, their needs and where Visa can create value in their lives
- Articulate how specific social platforms can disproportionately deliver on brand relevance and business results
- Develop compelling content briefs for internal and external teams to develop high performing content
- Understand new content spaces and recommend actions Visa can take with its partners
- Partner with Global Brand and Regional teams to develop content strategies that maximize Visa’s high profile global sponsorship assets (F1, FIFA, Olympics)
- Work with creative teams to create best in class content for our global social channels
- Articulate, socialize and create adoption behind content best practices to scale in regions
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 10 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/MBA/JD/MD), or a minimum of 5 years of work experience with a PhD
Preferred Qualifications:
- 15 or more years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 12 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, or MD), PhD with 9+ years of experience
- 15+ years' experience in strategic roles on the brand side managing digital and social marketing and content initiatives and collaborating with agency partners and cross-functional teams
- Content strategy, financial services or payments industry experience preferred
- An influential and seasoned strategic leader with experience engaging and collaborating across complex global teams and local markets to deliver best-in-class content
- Proven record of implementing strategic initiatives, policies and operational decisions
- You have a bias for action, not bureaucracy, and are able to act nimbly and quickly while rallying cross-functional teams and senior execs behind a shared vision
- An organized, independent, and deadline-driven individual with preferred experience in a large creative organization
- Must have proven ability to drive results with a high degree of personal initiative and leadership in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with limited resources
- Executive presence, strong written and oral communication, including large-group presentations
- A thought-leader, change agent, and champion of developing new ways of working
- Must have strong leadership experience with a desire to mentor and grow teams
Additional Information
Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.
Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 176,900.00 to 256,500.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
