AVIZVA is seeking for a Senior Development Engineer - Database Technologies to join our team in Reston, Virginia. As an experienced Database Professional you are expected to have top-notch skills in maintenance and performance of SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL RDBMS systems. You will be in charge of selecting the appropriate instance type, guaranteeing operational readiness of the SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL databases, developing and maintaining them, carrying out data loads, and performing data modelling in support of various development teams.
Fundamentally, this is a ‘hands-on’ responsibility where as a Database expert you are expected to manage a company’s database system to maximise performance and efficiency. Substantial experience of working on the design, development and maintenance of data store(s) using RDBMS database technologies, will serve as a solid foundation for the success of this role.
Job Responsibilities
- Define structural requirements of database instances, developing and installing solutions.
- Create DB instances with great performance, availability, scalability, and security in mind.
- Apply data modelling techniques to ensure development and implementation meet integration and performance expectations.
- Analyse, resolve, and rectify database-related problems independently in real time, offering end-to-end problem solutions.
- Working on Structured Query Language.
- Writing procedures and functions using T-SQL/PlPgSQL.
- Working on advances concepts of DB Engines like triggers, schedulers, partitioning, Mviews, auditing, versioning, data load etc.
- Process performance optimisation for slow operations.
- Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement.
- Share your technical and domain knowledge, offering technical mentoring and cross-training to other team members and colleagues.
- As problems with computer systems that affect data storage develop, troubleshoot them and find solutions.
- Enhances architecture by monitoring emerging technologies and assessing how well they fit into operational needs and business objectives.
Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years MS SQL Server development and/or PostgreSQL experience required
- Proficient in SQL.
- Proficient in writing procedures and functions.
- Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO).
- Experience with backups, restores and recovery models.
- Experience in writing complex SQLs, procedures and functions using any RDBMS system.
- Experience working with Windows server, including Active Directory.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication.
- Flexible, team player, and go-getter.
- Ability to organise and plan work independently.
- Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment.
- The capacity to successfully switch between different activities and teams while multitasking.
