Pinewood Preparatory School (Summerville, SC) seeks a Chief Financial and Operations Officer (CFOO).

Position Summary:
The Chief Financial and Operations Officer (CFOO) manages the finance and operations functions of the School. The CFOO works closely with the Head of School and senior administrative team and interacts with the Board of Trustees, including: the Finance Committee to ensure effective fiscal management of the School and its investments; as well as the Building and Grounds Committee to maintain the campus property at a high level. Additionally, the CFOO has additional internal management responsibilities including technology and auxiliary services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for preparing and presenting reports to the Board in the areas of finances, facilities, risk management, and investments.
- Collaborate with fellow administrative team members.
- Conduct regular meetings with budget managers to ensure that fiscal priorities are clear and coordination is sound.
- Foster, maintain, and manage relationships with business partners, numerous outside vendors, and consultants such as banks, lawyers, architects, builders, brokers, and insurance agents.
- Represent the school in local, regional, and national organizations.
Financial Planning and Financial Management:
- Manage the planning and execution of the operating and capital budgeting process.
- Provide the planning and execution of long-term financing as needed.
- Manage the school’s short-term cash investments and work with the Head and the Board to develop a long-term plan to build and manage an endowment.
- Supervise the accounting of all transactions during the fiscal year and prepare financial reports for the Board and annual statements for our year-end audit.
Operations:
- Develop Business Office operations goals, objectives, and systems.
- Oversee the facilities and security departments to ensure a safe and secure campus for all students, employees, and visitors.
- Manage support for auxiliary programming including food services, before/after school care; and the summer camp program. Additionally, investigate and assess strategic opportunities for auxiliary revenue.
- Support to the athletics program as needed.
- Oversee the planning and execution of design through the construction of various projects.
- Support the school's philanthropic initiatives in conjunction with the Director of Development.
- Support the Enrollment Management team in the financial aid process.
- Partner with Human Resources and external brokers annually to review benefits and retirement plans.
- Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Comply with School policies and procedures.
- Attend school events in the evenings and weekends as needed.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- The CFOO supervises the business office, facilities, information technology, security, health services, and auxiliary program personnel.
Education and Experience:
- A Bachelor’s degree and five years of equivalent experience.
- An advanced degree in accounting or business is preferred.
- An in-depth understanding of an independent school business model is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of facility management, maintenance, and construction is valuable.
- Has managerial dexterity to prioritize and address multiple projects on a daily basis to meet required deadlines.
- Strong writing and public speaking abilities.
- Able to create and manipulate spreadsheets.
- Comfortable making presentations to all constituent groups of the School.
- Proficient with managing personnel.
- Able to understand and work with the technology systems that support school operations.
- Adheres to the highest level of professionalism and practices good customer service by demonstrating honesty, integrity, and maturity.
